Vehicle Detail

1979 Jaguar XJ12 This car has been in the family since the early 80's. Out of my grandfather's dozen or so daily drivers, this was his very favorite car. He would even rather drive this than his 2004 XJR. It drives so effortlessly. The steering is easy, the acceleration is good, then braking is reassuring, the handling is right in par for it's power. -Yet it is silky smooth and quiet. The wood was professionally redone about 15 years ago because it was cracking like all jags do. It was refinished and looks brand new still today. There are no cracks or bleaching anywhere. The seats were gone through about 5 years ago and are all --very soft-- and have no tares or rips like you will find in any other Jaguar from the 70's and 80's. The body is straight and had never been in an accident. It was professionally repainted about 10 years ago with PPG two-stage paint to match the original color-brown. The engine is original and the wiring harnesses/hose routing are completely untouched. This seems to be something harder and harder to find. The tires show little wear at all -almost like new. The car has no overheating issues and passed CA smog. The only blemishes are a small dent next to the passenger side headlight that I just noticed while washing the car.. It's about the size of a golf ball, and the paint was corroded a little on the lower rocker panel from a brake master cylinder leak. This isn't noticed until you walk up to it and look. The master cylinder has since been replaced with a new unit. Some touch up paint would hide where the paint damage easily. Lastly, the air conditioning needs to be serviced. It was blowing cold air when I put it away, but must have leaked out over the year it has been sitting. I unplugged the air conditioning pump before I started it so the pump wouldn't be ruined. I had the alternator upgraded to a gm alternator about 5 years ago. This is a very worth-while upgrade as there have been no charging issues since. Also, at the same time, I installed a cruise control unit as well as an electronic ignition that i purchased through xks unlimited. In the 80's a slightly upgraded shift kit was installed in the transmission so it shifts a little firmer and quicker than a stock transmission. This has proved it's worth in gold as it has never had transmission problems like these cars are prone to have. As I said, he loved this car very much. All in all, this car was treated with royalty and is one of the finest examples of an XJ12 you will find anywhere. For Potential California Buyers: Yes, this car passes smog inspection with flying colors every time. I have never had a problem. All the stock smog controls are there and in working order. **This is the last time I'm posting this car for sale. If it does not sell, I'll keep it as it makes a great daily driver**
