Photos and Videos                           Body, Trim and Paint Having  resided in a dry area of Northern Washington and Southern California, the body of this 1958 Austin Healey 100-6 Two Seater has been well preserved. The upper body is fairly straight with only two minor dents on the side of the left fender and a minor kink in the trunk lid. The underside appears to be all original with only one very small spot of rust at the passenger side rocker. Although the body style of this  100-6  is that of the rare BN6 model, the VIN plate mounted is stamped with a BN4 chassis number. It is  likely that the original BN6 VIN plate was removed/lost at some point in the past and replaced with a BN4 plate. So this is likely an original BN6, but is currently titled with a BN4 chassis number. All trim parts are present and in  fair condition. All chrome parts show a nice shine. Windshield is in good condition with no chips or scrapes. Front and rear light Lucas lenses show no cracks. There is no soft top or frame, but the original side curtains are included. The left rear bumper guard is missing a piece at the top, but a complete guard is included with the extra parts. The age of the current Red paint job is unknown, but is likely 10 to 15 years old. Paint has some minor blemishes, but overall it's in fair condition for a driver with some panels (e.g. trunk lid) showing more paint wear than others. Interior The Black interior is complete with the rear panels currently not installed. The interior is older with most wear showing on the driver seat bottom. Overall the interior is of a driver quality. Usable as is. All gauges, switches and knobs on the face of the dash are present, except for the headlight swtich, which is included. A rare Les Leston wood steering wheel is installed. Electricals Front and rear parking lights,  brake lights,  horn and windshield wipers are functional. The starter and generator are functioning fine.   Speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, oil temp and fuel gauges are functional.  Headlights and turn signals are presently not functioning due to headlight switch which is included but not presently installed. Turn signal relay needs cleaning to get the turn signals to operate. A brand new 12 volt battery is installed. Engine and Transmission The engine is a correct 2.6 Liter straight six (number 29D/U/H1888) factory rated at 117HP. Recent engine related service includes the following: Lubed carb linkages, disassembled and cleaned carbs, ultrasonic cleaned needle valve assemblies, balanced carbs, R&R gas tank and replaced gas sending unit, replaced all soft fuel hoses, anchored solid fuel linesm cleaned glass fuel filter, cleaned distributor cap and replaced points. Additionally, all six spark plugs were replaced and compression test measurements were taken with measurements of 145psi to 155psi across all six cylinders. The engine starts very easily and accelerates smoothly with good power. Oil pressure at startup is 40psi to 60psi. The original 4 speed transmission shifts smoothly into all gears, but pops out of first gear unless shift lever is held in place. All other gears are functioning fine. There is also an oil leak coming from the rear section of the gearbox. Recent transmission related service includes the following: Replaced clutch slave cylinder and hose and bled system, topped up transmission oil and changed differential oil.   Suspension, Wheels, Tires and Brakes The suspension is in fair condition with newly installed front sway bar. The steering alignment is good. The original 15" solid steel  wheels are currently installed and are in good condition. The original chrome hubcaps are in fair condition with front right hubcap showing the most wear. All four  185/65R15 sized  radial tires are older and hold air, but are ready for replacement. The brakes are functioning well with new brake master cylinder just installed, rear hoses replaced and lower front and rear wheel cylinders rebuilt. Brake fluid was also recently flushed. The emergency brake is adjusted correctly and holds tight.   Extra Parts and Documentation The following extra parts are included: Pair of original side curtains, extra pair of carburetors, extra bumper guard, windshield wipers, extra oil filter, original fuel pump, new headlight switch and miscellaneous other parts. Documentation includes factory service manual and recent $1300 service record. The engine number identifies this engine as a 2.9 liter engine from a Austin Healey 3000 MK 1. The H also identifies it as a high compression engine. So though it is not the correct 2.6 liter for a 100-6, the 2.9 liter engine offers a horsepower increase from 117HP to 124HP. The 2.9 liter also has a more satisfactory torque curve, with more low end power, and a slightly higher top speed of 115mph. So overall, the new owner will get the more sportier looking 2 seater with the higher performing 2.9 liter engine of the Healey 3000.On Sep-05-12 at 22:07:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Options include adjustable steering column and heater. Also appears to have an overdrive unit installed at the back section of the gearbox.
