Vehicle Detail
Up for bid today is a 1950 Studebaker Starlight Coupe. This car has been stored inside since 1989, and was just recently pulled out due to the building falling apart. It last ran in 92. I would really like to keep this one but I have too many projects now and have to let this one go. I will try to describe this to the best of my ability, and if you have any questions please contact me first for further information or pictures. BODY- The body is in average shape. It does have its problems around the lower rockers, fender edge where it meets the body, floor pans are soft in some spots and rusted through in a few spots. The trunk seems pretty solid, with rot through the spare tire carrier. New floor pans are available. There is paint bubbling and peeling throughout, but the sheetmetal is good where it counts. Everything that needs patched on it is mostly flat surfaces, like the rockers, and could be made easily. Roof is nice, as well as hood and trunk, doors are fine, open and close nice. Passenger door wont latch close, but all pieces seem to be there. Hood hinges are a little tough to open, probably due to surface rust. GLASS- All the glass is intact. The passenger vent window has a crack, it is flat glass so it wouldn't be much to have a new one made. There are no cracks or chips anywhere else that I seen. Windows roll down with effort. Back wrap around glass is nice, just needs a good cleaning. Same goes for windsheild. Door glass is good, only showing slight discoloration around the edges. TRIM- There isn't much for trim on these 50 studebakers. The bullet nose piece is nice, no pitting. The two pieces around the bullet are pitted. The lower grills are intact and not bent up. trunk handle is all there, pitted. The only trim I can see missing is the Studebaker script emblems on the front fenders. Front and rear bumpers and bumper guards are in place. INTERIOR- 10+ years of farm storage for an interior can do its toll. It is all there however. The seats have been chewed up, but complete. Dash is really nice. Radio was taken off at some point but is still with the car. All gauges are intact, as well as steering wheel. Headliner is good, no tears, just dirty.DRIVETRAIN- Original flat 6 is in place. Has not been ran in 10 years. Seems to be all there, and theres a few extra parts in a box included. (Fuel pump, starter gear?, gaskets). has a manual transmission, condition is unkown. All in all, I think this is a great little oddball car. It has some really unique styling. Its begging for a fix me up. Great thing about it is its all there, no searching for extra parts. I have seen these cars done up many ways, gassers, cruisers, saltflats, customs. It does have a clean clear and up to date Iowa title. I will try to include pictures of everything, but if theres anything you want to see, please contact me or come take a look for yourself. PAYMENT AND SHIPPING I require a $500 deposit within 72 hours of auction end. After that, the rest must be paid in cash or thru paypal. I can store this until buyer can make arrangements to pick up or have it shipped, but it will be outside. Buyer must pick this up, or make there own arrangements to have it picked up by a shipping company. It rolls around and steers.
