Vehicle Detail
This 1997 Alfa Romeo 156 2.5V6 24V is in mechanical perfect condition. Also in great cosmetic condition. 2 dents (each $50 to remove) but other than that, really nice car. There is 1 rust spot on the rear passenger fender, cost is $350 to get it done. I will throw that into the deal and get it professionally done for you. Cool wheels on it, fresh safety and e-tested so you don't have to do it. All serviced, all clean. Sold by private owner, 100% accident free. Factory sport exhaust and factory lowering kit. All original. Timing Belt, Waterpump, Radiator, Cooler, Clutch, Brakes and Suspension all recently at 75000 miles done. The speed cage is in kilometers and the mileage too: 146500 km, which is 90'030 US miles. Very powerful engine, still pulls like it's new. Fast, nice Ferrari like roaring. You will love it. No story with the car, it was imported from Switzerland, clean and comes with Ontario registration. 1997 to 1998 Alfa Romeo's 156 are officially appraised for around $15'000. This is a 1997 model, but nobody can list vehicles on eBay younger than 1981 with the European VIN. The European VIN is a WMI number (World Manufacturer Identification) and North America uses SAE numbers (Society Automotive Engineers), where the 10-digit indicates the year (as an example). The VIN listed here is correct and it can be registered in any Canadian province or US State, but the person at the DMV will have to "overwrite" it. Many people ask on how to import cars. First the basics: Any car that was sold in the United States of America can be imported into Canada and vice versa. This is an agreement between the two nations. However, the FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) from the USA are a little different than the CMVSS, which are the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. As an example, non US-spec cars can only be imported into the US if they are 25 years old. Canada has a different law and this car meets CMVSS. So, how can it be imported? You will need to fill out the HS-7 form for US Customs (I can provide you with that), you will have to import the car in your name and mark Box 2B on the HS-7 Form. The Box 2B means, that the vehicle does not conform with FMVSS but with CMVSS and that you are importing it for your own personal use only and not for resale. With other words, you will only be able to register the car in your name and not dispose of it, in any way, within 12 months after registration. So, even if you want to sell it after 6 months, you cannot do that. You must keep it for at least 12 months. There are many, even new, cars sold in Canada, which are not offered in the US. Example: The SMART went on sale in Canada 2 years prior USA, however, people were able to import them. Another example is the Jaguar X-Type Station Wagon, or the Nissan X-Trail (not X-Terra). Or even the Cadillac BLS, Chevrolet Optiva or Mercedes Benz B-Class. Same goes for the folks in the USA, the Pontiac G8 (awesome Holden batched as a Pontiac with 6.1lt Corvette engine) was never offered in Canada, yet people imported them into Canada all day long. (By the way, the car is coming back as a Chevrolet Caprice Police only version). Shipping a car: I had a quote done from Toronto to Florida, that would cost $1200. You can check with the company http://www.snowbirdtransport.com/ Give them ZIP code: M4B 1B3 Toronto Origin of car: This is an imported Alfa from Switzerland, where they have the strongest DMV safety law in the world, hence explaining why this car is so nice and in awesome condition. Have a wonderful day
