Vehicle Detail

This Hawk was purchased new, locally, by a lady driver, who drove it until her passing in 1989. The car was put into a barn at that time, and was only taken out this year. I purchased it from the lady's daughter with the intention of restoring it. While it is very restorable, it is too much for me. I had it trailered to a garage, where they rebuilt the carburator, installed new ignition wiring,, and put some fresh gas in the tank, and with a new battery, got it started. It ran for about an hour with no incidents. Exterior The pait is old and faded, and there are some rust spots in various places. The rocked panels have been replaced, but amateurly. There are missing and broken trim pieces. The vinyl top is in very good condition. The glass is all there and in good condition. All the chrome trim is there but some would need to be redone if the car were to be restored for show. There are seven rims and tires, but all the tires are bad. Hub caps are there and are in great shape. Interior The seats are in good shape. The upper part of the door panels are in good shape, but the carp on the bottom of the panels is faded. I removed all the other carpet as it was beyond hope. The metal floor had some holes in the corners which I had welded up. The headliner has two holes in it about 2" in diameter. The dash is in good shape except for the left top (see pic). All the gauges work. Lights work. Mechanical The engine starts and runs. The transmission shifts and the car moves forward and reverse, but because there are no brakes, we didn't test drive the car. The reason that the brakes don't work is that someone cut the hoses to the front brakes, and removed the calipers. I have only one caliper. It appears that there is an entirely new exhaust system and the gas tank is newer. The oil bath air cleaner is missing, so the one in the pics was a home-grown unit to keep the big stuff out. The car is sold as is where is and will have to be trailered away. Access is easy and flat. One tire seems to only hold air momentarily. While there was a space for title, The car is sold with a Connecticut Bill of Sale only. If you have any questions please ask through EBay. On Aug-25-12 at 13:49:47 PDT, seller added the following information:I rechecked the VIN located on the plate on the drivers door jamb. The number is either 14261 or I426I. The first and last numbers or letters are the same and look more like the capital letter I to me. I can't seem to get additional pictures on the site, but a question came up concerning the headliner. There are two holes, on opposite sides above the driver's and passenger's doors. If you want to see the pics I took, send me your EMail address. Thank you everyone for all the information.
