Vehicle Detail

Very nearly rust-free, barn-find, well-preserved, stock, very complete, original, former Bell Telephone, half-ton, short-bed 1950 Dodge B2B pickup truck from the desert of Southern Utah. It's called the Pilot House because of the large front windows. The only spot on the entire truck that has any rust is at the front corner of the passenger door (see pics) and it's from forever ago; everything else is rust-free. Below the ancient primer from the cab forward and in the cab, the truck is Bell Green. From the bed back it is another color. At some point, the Bell Telephone utility pickup box was removed and replaced with a period and date code correct factory box. Other than the paint color below the ancient primer, the bed looks like it was born there. Again, other than the passenger door, all body panels are rust free. It's really a treasure, and something you come across rarely these days. Only the front grill surround has been hit in the past (see pics); a repair (metal work only... no bondo) has been started. The inner and outer fenders, both hoods, the center hood hinge section and everything else in that area were not affected and are extremely straight with no signs of any accident history ever. Cab corners are perfect. Re the interior, floor boards are great as is everything else. Door panels, trim clips, passenger window glass, etc. are included (see pics). Seat frame is in excellent shape and the dash is nearly perfect. Way back when, a 60's AM radio was installed on the driver side dash. I've seen identical installations before and am wondering if this was a common upgrade. Either way, it's a very clean and easily reversed mod. Gauges and trim are all there and look great. The running gear is totally stock and original with the inline flat head six (Blue Diamond?). I had it running last summer and it sounded great. That's when I noticed a crack in the block running parallel to the flat head about an inch or two below the head gasket on the drivers side (see pics). We attempted a repair from the outside (welding the block) that almost worked. A small amount of coolant still leaks through. I suspect that some cracked block sealer run through the cooling system may finish the job from the inside. It's certainly worth a try and would make this truck a driver immediately. Transmission is a three speed, column shift manual; linkage is currently unhooked but the clutch works great. All tires hold air, the truck rolls and steers well but the brakes go to the floor. This is a great truck. It would be an outstanding basis for a restoration or preservation because of it's originality, completeness, and lack of rust. The title says it's a 1946 but clearly that's an error by the Utah DMV. All my homework indicates it's a 1950 B2B. I also have tons of extra pics. Please send me a non-Ebay email address and I will send them. Also, I'd be happy to answer any questions. My name is Chris and my number is 435-669-1470. The truck and I are both located in the dry, desert community of St. George, Utah (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Thank you very much for your interest. On Aug-25-12 at 23:49:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Can't believe I did this but I just lowered the Reserve to $1000. 1), I'm cutting back on my collection of big boys toys and 2), I'm funneling funds from this sale into my remaining projects. That's insanely low for such an awesome piece of Detroit steel. Good luck and good bidding.
