WE ENDED THE AUCTION SHORTLY AFTER IT STARTED DUE TO A TYPO IN THE VIN. JUST TO BE CLEAR, THERE ARE TWO VEHICLES IN THIS AUCTION AND HERE ARE THE CORRECT VINS FOR EACH: HORIZON BLUE CAR: 11102612001971 RED METALLIC PARTS CAR: 11102612002751 I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY CONFUSION MY MISTAKE MAY HAVE CAUSED. Included in this auction are two (2) 1971 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupes and many extra parts. The Horizon Blue (DB-304) car is for restoration. We sold this car 7 years ago to a gentleman who ended up using the car for parts in the restoration of a 3.5 Cabriolet, much to our dismay. After 3 years of discussing the re-purchase of this car, we finally have it back and have combined it with almost all the parts necessary to replace what he had removed. This car was a low mileage 3.5 coupe that was in long term storage. The paint on the car is original. The Dark Blue leather interior is in very nice condition. The Red Metallic (DB-571) car is a total loss. However, with the other parts I have pictured in this auction, this Red parts car has almost all the incidentals needed to complete a restoration for the Horizon Blue car, including the power windows; the dash items; any wiring harness need; all of the clips, screws, and fittings; extra chrome pieces; etc. The extra parts that I have in my shop came from a 3.5 coupe that spent many years outside with a broken windshield after a tree fell on it and buckled in the floors. These additional parts include a complete 3.5 front clip with an extra grille (a low grille front clip sells for over $3,000 used); power window doors; rear seat power windows; trunk lid; rear seats (there are seats in the Red parts car); and assorted interior parts. Let me give you an overview of what will be needed in this restoration: INTERIOR: It will need the passenger seat back replaced in the correct blue leather and a complete carpet kit installed to be back to its former glory. All of the original wood is intact and in good condition and ready for any easy refinish. The dash pad will need new leather during restoration and I believe the only thing that I do not have photographed is an original radio which I will include in the sale. Please note: this car comes with a complete Behr A/C unit. These units are in very high demand and a complete unit with all components, brackets, and pulleys can sell for more than $5,000. EXTERIOR: This car has such little rust that you may not have see one this clean underneath in a long time. The body is so straight that there will be minimal work needed. This car will need complete paint. The grill is near perfect. At this level of restoration, the bumpers will need rechroming. All weatherstriping should be replaced. MECHANICAL: I have not heard this car run in many years. This car has been in storage for so many years that you will need to have the drivetrain fully prepped and serviced from a well-experienced technician.
