Today, she is a very rare and hard to find classic that wont break the bank. She has her original upgraded 170ci Straight Six cylinder engine with a 3 speed manual transmission on the tree. She gets between 25-30mpg. This car runs beautifully in all respects. Only 14400 Comets were produced in 1961 and far less had the S-22 Package. The S-22 package included bucket seats, center console, upgraded suspension and a few other features. A nicely optioned base model could be bought in 1961 for $2282.00. New brakes, clutch, battery, recent tune-up and more. The headliner and rear bench seat are like new. The heat works as it should as does the 3 speed wipers, speedometer, odometer and lights. An excellent "Get in & Go" car. Great for any cruise nite or a nice drive on a nice warm day. You can cosmetically fix it up or leave it alone. Either way, its tons of fun without spending tons of money and you'll get as much attention if not more, than all the Chevelles and Road Runners next to you on car night. A set of 4 spoked rims and matching 14" radial tires (as shown) are included in the sale as well as a perfectly good spare. While this car is an excellent driver, there are a few flaws as you would expect from a 50 year old inexpensive classic. Whats Wrong?The last two photos show some paint bubbling at the bottom of the doors. They are visible but there is no rust through. They are just paint bubbles which have been unchanged for years. . Bumpers are original and are very dull. They are completely in tact with no dents, rust or pitting but a re-chrome would make a big difference.Interior is fine but front seats have a few splits at the stitching and can be sown together. There are no tears or cracks in the seating material. Only the seams have separated. There are a few other minor imperfections here and there but overall, a great car. Engine is nicely detailed, runs and drives great and is the highlite of this car. Overall, this is a great running classic that, with very little TLC, can be brought to the next level. You can also leave her as is and still enjoy her for many years to come.
