Vehicle Detail
Selling a 1969 Fiat 850 Spider, 903cc with 4-speed. Shows 68k miles but I doubt if that is completely accurate. Dark metallic grey with black interior. Starts easily and idles, engine is strong on the road and the brakes stop the car straight with little vibration. Engine does not burn oil but it will leave a few drops after being driven. Runs proper temperature and both engine pans are in place. Recent Weber carb from Italy, cleaned fuel tank, thermostat and sending unit, wheel bearings, rear springs, battery and 165/60/13 tires on aluminum wheels. The wheels do polish up nice but it takes some effort. Body is overall quite straight and solid with very little rust. Trunk and floors are solid. The x-frame has had a past repair. I was told due to a rock hit so a small section was removed and aluminum bar bolted in. It should be welded at some point, but it works. You can jack the car up from any of the four points and still open and close the doors. The paint work is not the original color but is complete on all inner and outer surfaces. The quality is less than professional but is decent. The doors open and close without sagging and the windows work properly. The chrome is in generally good condition. A few pieces have a little pitting and some swirls. I think all emblems are present and in good shape. The interior is in very nice condition. There are no cracks in the dash pad or rips in the seats. It has the full center console which looks to be rare. Most everything works: gauges, wipers and speed control, heater fan, clock, lights, turn signals, seat adjusters and the old Fiat AM/FM radio. The carpet is not completely installed but I have it. The convertible top is OK, not torn with a clear back window and it latches tight across the windshield. The car has been a continuous improvement project and will need a few things in my opinion: - The front and rear shocks are worn out and are causing an extra vibration and shake on bumps. I will include new fronts but I don’t have the rears. - The front brake hoses are looking weathered. They are not leaking or bulging but should be replaced. - The front trunk lid does not latch down tight. The parts are there but it does not work right. It is hinged at the front so it stays down and has not been a big issue. - The tachometer starts to drift above 4000 rpm. Worn pick-up? The car is and can be driven as is. I have never gone more than 80 miles at any one time, but it has been dependable. I will include the misc. parts I have laying around, including front shocks, a full engine gasket and seal set and I think a new choke cable. It’s been a fun little car and project, but my time isn’t there to continue the improvement. Please ask any questions via e-mail, phone or text. Thanks, Mark. 608-279-2132.
