Full DisclosureThis Honda Insight has a very strong and reliable engine. Overall, the car is in poor condition. The body has several dings and dents. The interior is in poor condition. The seats and upholstery are worn and the dash has a couple broken buttons. The power windows barely function and the air conditioning stopped working a couple years ago. The vehicle has a manual transmission. The engine was replaced at 190,000 miles with an engine from the same model year insight, but with 79,000 miles on it - so actual mileage on this car's engine are less than 150,000. The hybrid battery pack has never been replaced and is likely in similarly poor condition. The electronic engine assist is rarely functional, but the car runs adequately without using just its gas engine. With just gas engine operation, I tend to average a little over 50mpg. When the electric assist worked on a regular basis, the car achieved significantly better mileage. The vehicle does not have either of its catalytic converters. They failed last year and were removed. They have not been replaced, but the exhaust system was welded back in place without them, so the vehicle drives and sounds normal. This car obviously has its flaws, is being sold AS IS and comes with NO Warranty of any kind. The buyer will be able to drive it home if they choose. As I mentioned, I still drive this car to work daily (55 miles each way) and have learned to live with its personality. Despite the lack of regular battery assist, it is still easy to achieve average mileage in the mid - high 50's (mpg) during the summer. Overall mileage during the winter drops to about 50mpg while driving.. and maybe a bit lower overall due to all the idling to warm the car up before and after work. This car may get someone to work and back on the cheap for several more years.... or make a great parts or project car. 1st generation Honda Insights are very rare vehicles and this one has lots of usable parts. Additionally, the engine block and frame are all aluminum. Buyer is responsible for prompt pickup and transport of the vehicle after the auction. Windows:driver's side does not work; passenger side goes down easily, but comes up only with manual coaxing. Driver's side window may be functional... but the button for it is broken off. MP3 Player:functions perfectly, but instillation far from seamless. Its a tiny, 12 year old Honda.... speakers don't sound great. IMA: Usually not functional. You can unhook the 12v battery for a few seconds to reset the car's systems. Then the IMA (battery assist) will usually work for a couple hours to as long as a couple days before it stops working again. I used to do this regularly so I always had battery assist, but now have just gotten used to driving it with the gas-only engine. Windshield:cracked, no rear-view mirror (We have never been stopped or cited for this issue.) Body:a little beat up; bumpers have sustained damage Tires: Over 50% tread remaining Questions welcome.
