Vehicle Detail

This is going to be a very long post...apologies ahead of time.I wish to sell my 2000 Z3 Roadster. I'm not hurried...she drives great and of all the cars I've owned, it's been the best out of all of them in its stability and quickness. The truth is, I've just about come to the end of my time here in Norfolk, and plans are getting made for me to move out west near the mountains where the novelty and practicability of having a convertible - living near the beach and all - isn't such a hot idea...the snowstorms of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado don't suffer fools who think they can power through their fury in a two seat convertible. Honestly, between work and school, I've been unable to find the time to chase down every hiccup she can come up with to challenge me.The truth is, I don't want to trade her to a dealer who is going to abuse her as his/her dealer car...or sell her to some kid who is going to race her and put her into a tree. I really want her to go to a good home.So...here are the particulars:2000 BMW Z3 Roadster. She's black with a tan top and a tan leather interior. She has a straight-6 2.5 ltr engine that is as solid as the day I drove her off the lot. It's got the wood trim, the soft leather seats with no tears. I've never eaten in it, drank in it, or allowed anyone to smoke in it (under penalty of death). It has the DSC, it's got the digital clock that only reads in military time (which I just love), the onboard computer works beautifully, analog dashboard, and it's getting about 21 miles to the gallon on average, and a K&H air filter that's just been recharged. It has a car cover that will go with it, full jack in the back as you might expect. And not that I should have to say it - but it's worth saying: Jesus, she's fast. (Love it when people tailgate me on I-64 and I'm still rolling along in 4th gear...clutch, shift to 5th, and ZOOM! Later Tailgater!) Though - I should say this - she's never been above 80 mph. I know...what's the point of having the Millennium Falcon and not try out the lightspeed - I digress) Has the foglights that I think make her look cooler than the ones I've seen without it. I bought her two years ago around Valentines Day - dug her out of 3 feet of snow (snowmagedden - as many of you might recall) and was sold when I first put her around a corner. Middle of winter and I'm buying a convertible: my friends thought I was nuts.I bought her with 93000 miles, for 9300 dollars. In retrospect, she was worth much more than that. In two years or so, she's now got 112 and change...I have babied this car, and it's never been past Washington, D.C.I have absolutely all of the papers of everything I've ever had done to her. She's had her oil changed every 3000 miles on the dot (kind of anal about that, actually) and have never run her out of gas.I've replaced her windshield (on my drive back from the dealer, a rock came off a dump truck and in slow motion - the rock bounced twice and slammed into the glass. Needless to say, I wasn't a happy camper.) Early on - she had issues with her fuses...luckily I managed to track all of the issues down. Also early on, the right side airbag censor failed repeatedly - went through three of them before finally getting it right. Now its all fixed. She's got an inspection that is good till 3/13.Here are the "bad" things - or things I haven't chased down:The DSC light has been on continually almost since the day I bought it. We managed to fix it by plugging in a computer, turning the steering wheel a few times and the light went off. God bless the patchwork of potholes that are the Norfolk roads. The top is a manual top...for those of you familiar with BMW's and their meddlesome tops and all of the nutty electronics they put in their cars, you'll understand why I've kept it this way. Honestly, if you have a minimal amount of muscle and aren't lazy - you can put the top down and up with ease. For those of you content to press a switch and have the top go down for them...luck! Besides, if the only reason you're interested in this car is for the top, and not for the bulletproof engine, transmission, clutch and the rest - are you sure you want a BMW Z3? Maybe a Golf is more your speed...You can read about the three times I've posted about it having troubles: here: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=632013here: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1766414 (turns out it needed new front brakes - which I promptly put on)and here: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1733931(the check engine light turned out to be a small tiny tube that got severed when the engine cover got re-put-back-on and a camshaft censor that had gone bad. Censor was 110 bucks and it did the trick. The tiny tube got hijacked off of a BMW motorcycle and has been working fine. In addition, in March two years ago, the mechanism that goes from the transmission to the back transfer case (that turns the wheels) was replaced...I have the papers for that as well. This is really the first time in my life I've had a car that I'm selling that I'm not scrambling to get rid of it...it's the one time when I feel like I don't HAVE to sell, but the timing - being that it's summer and I'm out of school entering my senior year, it just seems like now is the right time. I think, having never owned a Bimmer before, I've done a pretty bang-up job maintaining her on a student's living. Her clutch and engine are fantastic, the transmission shifts smoothly, she corners like a dream (and the thrust of those wheels behind you - whoosh!) - and I LOVE my car...but the time has come for me to hand her over to someone more apt in their time to give her the attention that she deserves. Please write to me for more pictures (if there's something I haven't covered in the pictures I've included), I have quite a few...and I will happily send them to you (I send them to my friends as though they are pictures of my kid - she's purdy). I took them with my phone so they are of course, gigantic.Oh - and in case you think you're too tall/big for a "small" car - I'm 6'2, 240. The myth is a complete lie - and you'll look better in this than you will in a Miata or one of those front-wheel-drive Honda deals...even though she's 12 years old, she still turns heads!Anyway - looking forward to hearing from you...
