For Sale - 1954 Buick Roadmaster Convertible Offered for sale is this beautiful butternut yellow 1954 Buick Roadmaster Convertible (Series 60). I purchased this car several years ago as a nostalgic item for my father to enjoy. The car was owned by a Buick dealer in Michigan, who used the car as a display and show car (it was driven regularly by him in good weather). When he lost his Buick franchise in the economic meltdown several years ago, he decided to sell this car. I acquired this lovely and rare (less than 3000 made and fewer than 1000 are believed to still exist) Roadmaster and the car was shipped to our vacation home in the mountains of North Carolina. We drove the car only a few times. Our family circumstances have changed and it is now time for someone else to enjoy the car. Offered for sale with a low reserve. Interesting trades, particularly for European sports cars, considered. The car has been covered in the garage in my parents’ home in the mountains of Western North Carolina since the summer of 2010. I am not a Buick expert, but I do own several European classics and I would characterize this car as a good driver. The body is in very good shape, showing well with nice paint that has a few small blemishes from use and good, but not perfect, gaps. The motor runs well, but the transmission leaks due to a leaking torque ball retainer seal (I have the part but never had an opportunity to fix it). Indicated mileage is not original - I have no idea how many times this has turned over. Power top appears to be a relatively new replacement in good condition and the top along with the power windows work as designed. Tires are good, but age is unknown. Car may need a new battery at this point. Interior is good, with very nice seats, just in need of cleaning, and some small pieces on the doors that might need re-trimming. The carpet is in decent shape, with no significant tears, but looks a little old to me. The front windshield is good but some of the side glass is cracked (easy to replace as these are flat pieces). The car, while not perfect, is a great cruiser. We drove her to local car shows and always received thumbs up and admiration from by-standers. The car is proudly useable as she currently sits. My plan was to use the car at our vacation home for a little while, then ship the car to California where I could address the few minor items (replacement of the torque ball retainer seal, replacement of the side glass and install new carpet and clean up the interior). Alas, life has gotten in the way of these plans and the car has seen little use since the summer of 2010. It is now time to let someone else enjoy this beautiful American classic. As I indicated, the car is garaged in NC (zip 28731); arrangements can be made to see the car in person with adequate advance notice. I have clear NC title in my name and in my possession. Car is currently insured and registered. Please call me at 8I8 9I5 3606 for faster response. Car is advertised for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. I try to be accurate and complete in my descriptions but all prospective purchasers agree that this description is solely for convenience, and should not be considered a complete description of any or all faults, and may not be relied upon, taken as fact or otherwise considered a representation or warranty or any sort. The car is sold as-is, where-is with all faults known or unknown. A pre-purchase inspection is strongly encouraged. Remember, this car is almost 60 years old; it is not showroom new. If you have ever had an old car, or you are considering owning one, you should understand that there is an almost endless list of repairs, improvements, corrections and details that can be attended to. Like the car, I am old too, so I may have forgotten things that are important to you, especially since the car is in NC and I am in CA and I am unable to do a walk-around in order to complete this description. I apologize for this lawyerly disclaimer, but we live in strange times. Thanks.
