Although there are other vehicles that are instantly recognizable - the Gullwing Mercedes, the '57 Chevy, and the DeLorean to name a few - there is no other vehicle so classy, yet affordable as a 107 chassis Mercedes-Benz. 1972 was the first year of this body style, and W107 chassis of the 280,350,380,450 and 560SLs was one of the longest running production bodies in the Diamler-Benz AG's line. Although most W107s are extremely well built and collectable, the most desirable and collectable of the W107s is the 1972 350SL with its features and higher horse-power than its latter cousins. It is also the first V8 powered two-seater to be built at the Stuttgart, Germany factory. 1972 Mercedes 350SL’s are becoming next highly collectible SL after the pricey and very famous W113 280SL Pagoda Mercedes!! Part of what makes the 1972 350SL so desirable to Collectors and Mercedes enthusiasts is the increased U.S. emissions and safety requirements starting in 1973 causing later models to be fitted with special crash bumpers and emissions control systems resulting in reduced overall look, performance and horse-power. It also features more elegant European style “short” bumpers, and they make this Mercedes look absolutely stunning! This Beauty was born in March 1972 and its production number is 3660, making it one of the first ones to roll off the production line. Owning a Mercedes SL gives a person a real driving enjoyment and pride of ownership. When these cars were first manufactured, Mercedes-Benz adhered to construction methods that resulted in a standard that was the envy of the automotive industry. Every Mercedes-Benz model shared a build quality second to none. About the car: I purchased this Mercedes with the intention to restore it back to its full potential, but because I have few other things going on at this moment, the time that I need to devote to this car is a luxury that I do not have. This Mercedes is all complete, and it will be fun restoration, as you can still drive this car while slowly restoring it back to its glory! Its Silver Gray Metallic paint has very nice shine and luster, and it makes this SL look very elegant!!! Upon closer inspection there are some minor blemishes in it, but nothing that is taking away from overall beauty of the car. It will stop traffic, and provoke curious bystanders with it grace and beauty no matter where you go! The body is in pretty good shape with some bubbling showing up here and there. All chrome is complete and in nice shape as well. Structurally this Mercedes is in pretty good condition, but there are some signs of rust and rust repair done by its previous owner, mainly on the floor boards. All sheet-metal parts, including the floor boards are readily available for these cars, and they are not very expensive to get!. K&K manufacturing offers all sheet metal replacement parts at very good prices (http://www.kkmfg.com/index.php ) Original Factory VIN # stamping on the front radiator support shows originality of this car. This Mercedes comes with both soft and the hard top! Soft top is older but it still serves it purpose, and goes up and down with ease. Hard top is in great shape, including the headliner and all the glass. Tan Interior is complete and for 40 year old car, it’s in pretty good condition. It comes with power windows, and they are working as they should. Powerful 4.5 Liter V8 Engine starts up on the first try, and its strong and powerful as day one. Automatic Transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly through every gear. There was over $7,000 invested in maintenance of this SL over past few years!!!
