Vehicle Detail
This is a very cool Volksrod built from and titled as a 1961 VW Beetle. I bought this on Ebay last winter, did a little tuning and cleaning up and have just had a ball with it. This little rod is a blast to drive and attracts tons of attention. There will be someone waiting to talk to you when you park it and when you come back. Great for auto shows. When I bought this, I was told it was built by a NASCAR mechanic and there's lots of evidence that this may be true. The electronic ignition and wiring is as good or better than a new car. The tires are new. It's just been tuned up. It has a wood floor in it! In the photo you can see I should have vacuumed them. Sorry! Custom fuel tank in front, removable rear cover for engine. There's a big storage area where the back seats used to be. The ignition and battery are back there. The back seat area is covered with a VW front end hood, worked to make it look like the Hebmueller designs of some early VWs. The roll bar is great and the whole thing is just cool. Even the starter is neat. Turn the old heater knob and she starts right up. I am 6'1" and 350 lbs. (more if I were being honest) and I fit in this thing great! Lots of room. Bad stuff: drips a little and takes a while to warm up. No gauges that work. As I said, I didn't build it so I can't answer a lot of technical questions. It runs good, has plenty of power, but I don't know when or how the engine was built, sorry. You can more or less see the front end and the new shocks. All I can say is it runs good and is a blast. I bought it because I'm disabled and just thought it would be fun to play with but my feet have lost their feeling and I'm really not safe shifting it. I can hit the gas and think I'm on the brake or get my feet behind the peddles and not know it so... I'm starting it out at $20 a reserve so help yourself. I paid almost $8k and it's in better shape now than it was. I will not disclose the reserve price. Don't ask. You arrange and pay for shipping.
