Vehicle Detail

Very clean, mechanically stock, close to rust free, cool looking, 1951 Willys Pickup Truck. This truck still has a great running original 4 Cylinder Willys Hurricane (I believe) Flathead engine. Converted to 12 Volt, it starts right up, runs smoothly, and sounds great running through it's new exhaust system. It also has an original skid plate underneath the oil pan. Three speed transmission (T-90 I think) shifts well other than a weak 2nd gear synchro. Once you get used to it, you don't notice. Spicer Model 18 twin-stick transfer case works great as do original, parallel switch locking hubs. Front and rear diffs are original and leak very little and perform great. Brakes and steering are awesome and the truck tracks straight and true. Radial AT tires on aluminum rims are near new and definitely contribute to it's driveability. At some point the radiator was upgraded and installed with custom bracketry. It's all bolted in so it could be returned to original very easily. But it works great so I wouldn't mess with it. The strong and stock/original mechanicals are one of this truck's greatest strength's. At a minimum, it's a great driver out of the box. The interior is in pretty good shape. Dash is uncut other than one aftermarket gauge. Chrome bezel/gauges are in excellent condition. Most gauges and lights work. Passenger side floorboard has previously repaired rust and drivers side is mostly rust-free. Firewall is is in great shape. Seat obviously isn't original but is very comfortable. Door panels aren't in pics but are available. Transmission tunnel is not nearly as bad as it looks. All it really needs is the messy, homemade panels removed and proper ones bolted in. There are a myriad of websites that sell this stuff. The exterior is one of this truck's great strengths. Cab, firewall, cab corners, fenders, hood, and roof are in great shape. Paint is fresh within the last 2 years. Flatbed is expensive, high quality and very cool (in my opinion) but is bolted on and easily removable if you don't like it. Same with the tires and wheels. A large custom gas tank sits under flatbed just behind rear differential. Entire undercarriage is clean and dry with no surprises. Headlights and brake lights work properly. All the glass is in good shape with no cracks anywhere. Other than the flatbed, radiator bracket, tires/wheels, and seat, this Willys is very original. It runs and drives great as well. It's a great basis for a restoration or to enjoy as is. In my opinion, it's too perfect a specimen to build-up, modify, or hot rod because it is so stock, original, and complete. Obviously, once it's yours, you can do as you wish. My name is Chris and I would be happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have tons of extra pics I'd be happy to send you; please send me your email address and I will get them to you promptly. The truck is located in the dry, desert community of St. George, UT (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Thank you very much for your interest. 1) Forgot to mention that it has almost brand new tires plus a brand new matching spare so five total on near new rims. I think we paid about $200 per tire. 2) Just drove it around town and remembered that it has difficulty down-shifting from 3rd gear to 2nd gear with the T-90 transmission. As long as you hold it in gear until after you release the clutch you are okay. 3) Even though I think it's worth north of $3500, I'm lowering the Reserve to $2000 so I can fund my next project. 4) It's not in the pics, but I have cool stake bed sides with wooden rails that go with it. Please call me if you have questions. Thanks again for your interest.
