Manufactured in 1968, this is an incredibly well maintained VW Karmann Ghia coupe. The previous owner completed much of the restoration of the vehicle. When purchased, we had the engine rebuild locally by a Volkwagen expert to get the engine as close to its orgiginal operating standards. This included the addition of a new fuel line and pump. We 'souped' it down so to speak instead of 'souping' it up so that it would run like a Karmann Ghia as opposed to a race car. It runs VERY well. The engine starts with one turn of the key and idles much like the Volkswagens of the time. There are no oil or fluid leaks. The paint job on the car is an older one and still looks good, however it is not perfect. The clear coat has peeled off in some locations on the hood and the top of the cab. There is one location where a small patch rusting exists on the door frame. I purchased the car that way and simply have not had it repaired. We live in a very dry climate so no progression has occured. The structural integrity of the car is good. The door gaps and fender gaps are great. There is a picture of a slight dent on the face of the trunk. The car was purchased like this. I understand the damage was caused during towing, but to my knowledge the car has never been in an accident. Of course Karmann Ghias are a rare breed. This one has been well taken care of over the years comparatively speaking. Because this vehicle is also being sold on locally as well, the auction could end early.
