Vehicle Detail
I bought this Landcruiser about 7 or 8 years ago and I am the third owner. I built it to be able to drive around town and to be able to hold it's own off road. I don't think I have put more than 1500 miles on it since I bought it. It was mostly stock and I've upgraded the following: Warn 8274 winch that is currently not hooked up. The solenoids started smoking the last time I used it and I have not messed with it since. I bought used solenoids off ebay and have not installed them.33" TSL Thornbird Super Swamper Tires that have about 1500 miles on them but are 7 years old. They are in great shape except the front left has a slow leak. Have to put air in it every month or so.Around a 5" lift done with larger shackles and 4" HFS springs. Also has Rancho shocks.Full roll cage. It was a family cage and I cut the back tubing off. I might still have the back tubing if you wanted to weld them back on.Power steering by mini truck conversion. I bought a kit from JT Outfitters and put an 85' Toyota 4x4 steering box on it with a GM pump.Foreign transmission with modified transfer case. When they were shipping these things out of Japan in the 70's, the models going to the US had different transmissions than those going to say Australia. The foreign transmission were geared lower. I put in a foreign transmission with a granny gear in the transfer case. I still have the original transmission if you want it. When I removed the original, I sat the two transmissions side by side and put them both in first gear, low range, with chalk marks on the input shaft and output connector where the drive shaft bolts up. On the original, I turned the input shaft 6x to make one full rotation with the drive shaft end. With the foreign, I turned the input 11x for one rotation on the drive shaft end. You can put it in low range, first gear and get out and walk faster that it drives. When you are driving around town, it's not that noticeable in high range. Also installed a new fly wheel and slave cylinder during the swap. Lock Rite locker in the rear end. Clicks and pops a little when turning into a parking spot but gives you both wheels turning when you need it.Optima battery.New muffler and manifold gasket.Bikini top. Issues good and bad:Doesn't use any oil, no major leaks, very minor.Rust in the usual places (see pics). Floor pans in pretty good shape. This started when the weather got warmer. You have to keep the choke out a little to get it to idle at 1000 RPM's. It sometimes dies when you come to a stop and have to do the ole foot on the brake and tap the gas trick. If you hit the gas once, it will keep running. There is an electrical leak somewhere. I unhook the battery when it sits and it is fine. If you leave the battery hooked up and don't drive it for a week, it will drain the battery. The brake pedal does not release fully. After you use the brakes, you pull the pedal back just a notch till it clicks. Missing one bumperette.I have emblems for the front, all other emblems are in good shape.Everything works, lights, gauges, etc and has the original AM radio that is not hooked up. The ashtray is missing, not sure if I can find that or not. I installed a JVC radio on the center console that has an ipod hookup. Speakers are from an old home stereo and are sitting behind the seats.Rear heat works.Spare tire is just a street tire on a wagon wheel. Not included in the auction but available for sale at the time of purchase are half doors that I cut down from full doors for $200/pair. Terms and pickup: I will require a $500 non-refundable deposit via paypal with-in 24 hours of the auction close. If you get to Knoxville and feel like I have misled you in anyway with the listing and need to change your mind, I'll refund the deposit. The landcruiser will need to be picked up with-in 2 weeks of the auction close. You could drive it home but I would not recommend it, engine feels like it is screaming at 55 mph. The top is currently off.
