Vehicle Detail

Very well-preserved, mildly-modded (nothing that can't be undone) 1966 Ford F100 Half Ton Short Bed 4X4 With an H-Code 351 Cleveland 2V V-8 Engine and FMX Cast Iron Automatic Transmission (both out of a 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1). The rest of the running gear is totally stock. One of the great features of this model is the bullet-proof Dana Spicer Model 24 Divorced Transfer Case. Since it is connected via driveshaft to the rear of the transmission, an engine/transmission upgrade does not affect the integrity or originality of the running gear. Thus, the transfer case, driveshafts, and differentials (Beefy Ford 9 Inch in the rear and Closed Knuckle Dana 44 in the front) remain as they left the factory in 1966. And mechanically, this F100 runs and drives great. It is a VERY civilized, tight driver that starts, runs, idles, accelerates, turns, brakes and stops extremely well. The mild mods were clearly done to a high standard and it has been well-maintained since. The Custom Cab was the most well-optioned model Ford offered in 1966. It came with power brakes which work well and even without power steering it's still surprisingly easy to turn even at low speeds. The 351 Cleveland is stock other than the air filter and dual exhaust with turbo mufflers (sounds very cool). The FMX transmission is attached to a sweet B & M Slapstick Shifter that works great. The entire 4x4 system (Spicer 24 transfer case and Dana 44 front axle with Warn locking hubs) works great as well. Due to the tightness of the drive train and rattle-free nature of the body, I suspect the 83,318 Miles on the odometer are actual. Interior is very well-preserved. Floor boards and all cab inner sheet metal are awesome. Glass is all good. Custom Cab padded dash cover is still in place but with some weather cracking (downside of a dry climate). Original rubber floor mat is in good shape. Bench seat and steering column look like they came from a 1973-1979 Ford truck (they are bolted in; no cutting or welding) but steering box looks original. All gauges, wipers and lights work properly other than blinkers and brake lights. The only real imperfection is the dash cutting by a prior owner to install a CD Player (not hooked up). I've got tons of pics. Please look carefully to see what a high-quality body it's got. That brings me to the exterior... very impressive. One ancient blue respray over the original red (why would anyone do that?). Frame is uncut and unbutchered other than sturdy motor mounts welded in for the 351 V8. Transmission cross-member looks original. Two inch body lift made of thick, rectangular tubing looks like it will last forever but is bolt-in and removable. Bed has original wood floor. Bumpers are custom and built like a tank. I removed portions of the factory/dealer undercoating which revealed bright, pristine, original red (outer panels) and black (inner panels) factory sheet metal that looks near new and certainly not 46 years old. Rust is VERY minimal in general. One cab corner and one fender have had prior repair. In my opinion, sheet metal is everything in vintage trucks. This one has great steel. This is an awesome 1966 Ford F100 4x4. It would be a great driver as is, a great basis for a restoration, or a great basis to modify. My personal opinion is they are not making any more of these so I hope it ends up with a preservationist or restorer. And like I said, I have tons of pictures that show how impressive this truck is; please send me a non-Ebay email address and I will send them to you. Also, please call me for any questions. My name is Chris and my number is 435-669-1470. The truck is located in the dry, desert community of St. George, UT (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Good luck and good bidding. On Jun-26-12 at 01:20:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve has been lowered to $4000. Gotta get this sold. It bid up to $4001 last time so I know someone thinks it's worth that much or more. Thanks for your interest.
