1968 Pontiac Firebird The first generation Firebirds had a characteristic coke bottle styling. With an original look its bumpers were integrated into the design of the front end and its rear "slit" tailights add to the legendary look of this body style. The body shares the same F-body platform and was built as a direct competitor to the corvette.The styling difference from the 1967 to the 1968 was the addition of side marker lights for the the front of the car, the blinkers were made larger and extended to wrap around the front edges of the car, and on the rear, the Pontiac (v-shaped) arrowhead logo was added to each side. The front door vent windows were replaced with a single pane of glass.The body style, trim, interior design along with the drive train and F-body set up of this car is why this is the most sought after year and model of the Pontiac Firebird. Assembly - Ohio - United States. Motor: This car is equipped with a big block 350 V-8. The motor has been gone through with a fine tooth comb and everything is either restored or in perfect working condition set to exact and precise torque and specification. On top of the block sits a brand new high performance aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold. On top of that sits a Holley performance 4 barrel carburetor. On the very top is a Holley triple chrome plated round air cleaner set up. Paint and body: No time restrictions or expenses spared on the paint and body work. The grill and bumpers and all trim were removed.The entirety of the cars paint was stripped to bare medal. At that time the block sanding began, the entire car was block sanded to a glass smooth bare metal state. Strict discipline and hard work, the car was again block sanded in its entirety for a second time to ensure nothing was missed or overlooked. The doors were then removed along with the trunk lid and hood. The door jambs, trunk jamb and engine compartment were then sanded to bare metal. It was a flawless prep job and the final product of months and months of preparation. The prep set up for paint, primer and clear coat that dried into a prestine mirror smooth mirror image paint job. The car was completely reassembled with its newly re chromed parts, new grill and headlights. Interior: The interior has to match the outside. Strict attention to detail on the inside as well. The interior was restored with top quality leather and all the factory parts were refinished or re chromed. New carpet. Every thing is new and looks just like the day it rolled out of the factory, brand new. The door sill plates are polished and have no scratches or dings in the original aluminum. Factory seat belts. All the gauges are factory original and in great working order. The wood trim and factory radio are original and in near mint condition. It could be said the interior is very near mint condition.
