Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE!!!!! Ford Thunderbird Sport Roadster. There were a total of 1,427 Sport Roadster's built in 1962, and this is one of the early production Sport Roadster's. Based on some Sport Roadster experts, the first +/- 200 or 558 units had the 2Y85Z VIN Number prefix in lieu of the 2Y89Z prefix. I have the original "build sheet" which shows the information regarding the "Factory Roadster" option. In addition, the Dealer is listed as Steuart Motor Co, Washington DC, with the following verbatim description: Thunderbird Convertible 8 Cyl $3,226.34 Rangoon Red No Charge Sports Roadster Package $ 453.60 Steering Column Moveable $ 17.70 800x14 WSW $ 29.98 Power Seat Driver & Passenger $ 130.00 Magicaire Heater $ 58.50 Push Button Radio $ 79.60 Windshield Washers $ 9.60 Outside Mirror $ 3.57 Heavy Duty Battery $ 5.27 D&D Schedule B $ 517.70 Total For Vehicle $4531.86 Gas and Antifreeze $ 6.04 Ford Dealer Advertising Fund $ 28.00 Convoy Collection $ .50 Total For Vehicle and Dealer Charges $4 566.40 Suggested Retail Pricing $5,905.50 In addition this unit also has the early cornering weights that added 50 pounds and served as vibration dampners. Prior ownership history is available to the successful buyer. This is a listing of the current condition of this rare Sport Roadster: New exterior paint, base coat/clear coat Original Kelsey Hayes wire wheels (5 ea.) New engine bay paint, base coat/clear coat New dash Original engine and transmission with a new professional rebuild (receipts available) Rebuilt Power Steering Pump Power top mechanisms restored, works perfectly New Trunk Interior Covering New body undercoating on a no-rust body New carpet New front seat covers New convertible top Refreshed aluminum interior trim Dealer installed "chrome engine package" Dealer installed trunk luggage rack Dealer installed chrome body side moldings Original Owners Manual The history of the Sport Roadster shows that the first 558 units that rolled off the assembly line had the prefix 2Y85Z, Body Code 76A, starting with Serial Number 105844 through 114640. This is Serial Number 106525, which makes this an early production Sport Roadster. The first unit produced with the updates 2Y89Z prefix and Body Code 76B came off the line on December 11, 1961, wearing Serial Number 127027, although there may have been one produced earlier but little documentation exists. All of the Factory Sport Roadster's left the line with the fiberglass Tonneau Cover, Red/White/Blue Thunderbird emblems on both front fenders, a matching emblem on the Tonneau Cover, a color-keyed Passenger Assist Bar mounted on the passenger side, and 5 Kelsey Hayes wire wheels. Rear fender shields were not available on the factory Sport Roadsters, as they wouldn't fit with the tire/wheel combo. Sport Roadster VIN and Body Codes VIN 2Y85Z105844 to 2Y85Z114640 all Body Code 76A VIN 2Y85Z114641 to 2Y89A176031 all Body Code 76B The car can be seen by appointment, contact Mike at 260-432-3222 to make arrangements.
