For auction is a 1980 Porsche 911 Targa. I bought the car about about 5 years ago, drove it for a summer and garaged it with intentions of restoring it. Time has gone by and little has been accomplished. At this point I have lost interest and want to pass it along to someone who will hopefully bring it back. Over the years the previous owner and I have replaced a number of parts. Recent replacements; MSD ignition and coil, warm up regulator, alternator drive fan, fuel accumulator, fuel pump check valve. air flow rubber This car is NOT a turnkey car. It starts (sometimes relectantly) runs and yard drives. The thermal time switch is defective. I direct wired the cold start valve with a push button switch, which allows cold starting. If you are familiar with replacing thermal time switch which controlls the cold start vavle, the motor has to be pulled for replacement. Runs better as it warms up, but doesn't want to idle. I believe it's not getting enough fuel. Car seems to run better when cold start valve is engaged. Fuel pump seems to be wired wrong as it runs constantly with the ignition on and car not running.Transmission shifts but can be balky, but if you baby it a bit it works fine.Clutch operates well. Car wiring has seen better days. Brakes and suspension are in good shape. Car will have to be trailered. Shortcomings- speedometer,tachometer, and clock do not function. I believe the tachometer quit when the ignition system was changed over. I believe there is a adapter by MSD that can be purched to get it working. The speedometer did cease function on my watch, probably put a 1000 miles more on it. Believe it or not. Seats are usable but both have wear on the entrance bolster. Stitching replaced on drivers seat. Targa top has some vinyl peeling inside but presentable. Carpets will need to be replaced. Dash has one Large crack in it. Cover of glove box is peeling off. Both doors have latching issue. Drivers door only opens from the outsde. Passenger door on opens from the inside. Body is very solid. Paint has a good shine but a number of scratches. The black was painted over a dark metallic green. I don't think that was a stock color and don't know what's underneath. The paint job is prentable but a 10 footer. No noticeable rust. Floor pans, battery tray, heat exchangers are solid. Car has an aftermaket exhaust which is quite throaty. Tires have about 50% tread and Fuchs wheels have no road rash. Car has aftermarket leather steering wheel. Most components, lights, fans, guages, and electric windows are operational. Once again, This is NOT a turnkey car. Absoulutely no warranty or return. If you have questions ask before bidding. Please read description carefully.I think with the skill of somebody who could properly adjust the fuel system and give it a tune up, the car could be running well with more time than money. Other improvements would be cosmetic. Please read this description carefully. I have tried to be honest in my description. Inspections are welcome by appointment. I would rather the car be picked up by the buyer and not trucked. Clean title in hand No foreign bidders. No bidders with less than 5 feedbacks and a 90% rating. I WILL cancel your bid. Don't waste my time.
