Vehicle Detail

1981 VW SCIROCCO S MK1 80 PICTURES BELOW - PLEASE WAIT FOR PROPER DOWNLOAD You are looking at a very rare 1981 VW MK1 Scirocco S. This is the classic original Giorgetto Giugiaro designed body style, the S Model with red accents, front air dam, 5-Speed manual transmission and Recaro designed seats, It is an original blue-plate California car, purchased new in California and spent its entire life in California. Only 128,816 original and documented miles. This Scirocco runs great and looks sharp. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere for any distance, it is very reliable and absolutely a blast to drive. All services records from new, clean CA Title in hand and clean Carfax in hand. I purchased this Scirocco from the original owner who was a local doctor and owned this car for over 30 years. He originally purchased this Scirocco from Lee Adams Volkswagen in Oakland, CA on 6/17/81 and paid for the car in full for $10,423.89 (I have the original purchase order from 1981!!). He loved this car like his own baby and spared no expenses in maintaining and caring for the vehicle. I have a stack of receipts to document its maintenance for the past 31 years. I was very fortunate to purchase this car as I know how rare a 1981 MK1 Scirocco S is. There are not many left on the road and a car like this will increase over time especially to a collector who will appreciate its original condition. I was planning to keep this Scirocco forever as my weekend driver, but I recently lost my job and cannot afford to keep a second car. So with much regret, I’ve decided to sell my Scirocco in the hopes that a VW aficionado will appreciate its appeal. For those of you familiar with Sciroccos, 1981 was the last year of the MK1 body style, the first and some say the best Scirocco. What makes this car even more rare is that it’s an S model distinguished by the red accents, front air dam and Recaro designed seats. This Scirocco is fully loaded for the year, with a removable sunroof and air condition that still works!! This car is completely stock with the exception of an after-market radio and Neuspeed front sway bar. Most MK1 Sciroccos (even if you can find one) are rusted, modified for the track or raced, have engine swaps, interior swaps or totally abused. Not this one, it’s in its original condition as when it left the factory in 1981 with no modifications. Original engine, interior, etc. All factory door and engine bay stickers are still in their proper place. I have taken over 80 pictures below and will describe the vehicle to the best of my ability. Exterior The body is solid and straight. Factory paint is called Cosmos Silver Metallic, although I think is looks more like a light blue. No dents, a couple of tiny dings. All glass are original and have VW/Audi stamps with absolutely no cracks. All lights function properly. Paint is a little tired, looks good from ten feet, but does have scratches and imperfections up close (please view pictures). As this is a California car, rust is minimal. I found three tiny surface rust spots…..underneath the rear window wiper, by the rear tail light and bottom of driver’s door (see pictures below). I treated the rust areas with Por-15 so the car is solid going forward. Paint is not bad for a 31 year-old car, but a respray will make it look pristine. Wheels are stock and tires are matching Michelin radials with plenty of tread left. Interior The interior looks absolutely stunning for a 31 year old car. The stock Recaro designed seats are in marvelous shape with no tears. All gauges are fully functional even the clock which keeps perfect time!! All interior lights work great including the dash and dome lights. All interior trim are in great shape. Climate controls work great…….heater blows hot and A/C still blows cold!! Radio has line-out for MP3 players and iphones/ipods. Headliner is in great shape with the exception of some wear by the rear window. Dashboard has a few cracks, but I will include a dash cover which comes with the car. Sunroof works great, can be removed and stored in the rear compartment (includes a sunroof cover). Rear trunk is clean and includes full spare tire. Engine The car is mechanically solid and runs great. Original Fuel Injected 4-Cylinder 1.7 Liter (1715cc) Single-Overhead Cam Engine with 129K miles. All preventive maintenance have been performed. Oil Change every 3,000 miles with Castrol 10/30 and brake pads have been replaced. Timing Belt replaced at 126,872 miles and new clutch at 102,622 miles. Also new fan motor at 126,423 miles and radiator flushed…………engine runs cool and temperature needle never cross half-way mark. New valve cover gasket, new muffler and exhaust, new hand-brake cables, etc. Alignment is perfect, car drives straight as an arrow. As far as I know, the car does not need anything at the moment. I have a folder stack-full of receipts since the car was new. You will never find a better documented Scirocco. Also included with service records are the owner’s manual and Clymer’s Rabbit/Scirocco Shop manual. Comes with two keys and two separate gas door keys. Also included are miscellaneous items: extra windshield wipers, touch-up paint, radio remote, fuses, lights etc. Payment and Shipping I’m located in Fountain Valley, CA 92708, approximately 30 miles south of Los Angeles. A Paypal deposit of $500 due within 48 hours to the successful bidder. The balance is due 7 days from the end of the auction by cashier's check, wire transfer or cash in person. I will only release car when funds clear through my bank. Please only bid if you are financially able to complete the transaction. It took me hours upon hours to list this auction so please lets be respectful of each other’s time. Shipping is entirely buyer’s responsibility and I will assist wherever I can. California buyers have to pay $90 DMV registration, but Smog has been done and I will provide certificate. Title is free and clear and ready to be signed-off to new owner. If you have any questions, please contact me via Ebay and I will provide a phone number to serious buyers. Finally, remember that this is a 30+ year car so it’s not perfect. It does have wear and tear typical of a 30 year-old used car. However, you will be hard-pressed to find a 1981 Scirocco S anywhere in the country, let alone one that is original, fully-documented and operates properly. Good luck Ebayers, an opportunity to purchase an original MK1 Scirocco S doesn’t come around very often so take advantage while I’m motivated to sell…….I may change my mind if I’m able to keep this car.
