Vehicle Detail
10,000 GVWR. 396ci, 4 speed manual tranny, factory a/c (not current), 2wd, power steering, original wood bed, newly reupholstered seat complete with re-clipped springs, new high density foam, new steering wheel, new in-cab gas tank, new battery, plugs, wires, distributor, starter, radiator. Currently a weekend driver. We found this truck and intended to use it as a donor for our '71, but it's way too nice to take apart without restoring properly. Prior to us, it was a one owner vehicle special ordered in Tahoe and built in Fremont. (Still have original 69 NV plates). It spent most of its life in Chico. There was an old camper on it when we got it. Bed was protected from the elements for 40 years. This is the C3500 (8.5' bed) with the big block, very rare with these specific options. There are 4 saddle fuel tanks which are not currently connected. There is no body rust. None at the cab corners, and we had a bird's-eye view from the inside when we had the seat and tank out.The paint is oxidized through to the primer, but the original 1969 steel body is sound. Odometer says 08600. I'm guessing 108,600. I started looking at this truck 25 years ago when it was parked in the driveway of a house I rode by after school every day. Back then it had 4 flats, and I never saw it move. I always dreamed of knocking on the door and asking if it was for sale. About 2 years ago, my kids and I were driving by and the truck was gone. I was kind of sad. A few months later, when we found out our '71 needed a new cab and bed, we started to look for a donor. Turns out this truck was available and we picked it up. When we got in to it, we decided that it is too unique and too nice to simply use as a donor. We did some basic stuff and she started right up. After we got her to a driveable point, we had to stop and think of what we might do. I would like to make it a 4X4 and drop a TH400 in it, but we think she deserves to be restored by someone who will take the time to do it right.
