Vehicle Detail

I've owned the van for 22 years.I have always kept it maintained and have added upgrades. Passed the state inspection this year.I was planning on an engine upgrade one day but never got around to it. It does not need it anytime soon. The Whole front end suspension is upgraded from an 88 Carrat. Including control arms, ball joints. stabilizers, springs, bushings, brake calipers etc. This gave it larger brakes than the 84 had.. Plus much better handling. It also prepared it to receive 15 or 16 inch wheels and the even larger 11" brake kit.Originated from Colorado when I bought it.Repainted in 2005. Had a big swipe on the side panel...Had the whole middle sidepanel replaced (It wasn't rust rotten there...Just big dent / swipe) Straight body , No Dents, Dings etc. Replaced engine in 1997 with New VW factory 2.1 engine. (not a rebuild) Transmission is AA Transaxle Rebuilt installed in 2006. less than 10k ago. Cost over $1000 New clutch, throw-out, pilot. Plus fly wheel turned at the time. New Radiator in 2003. With new improved fan switch. Exhaust Headers replaced in 2003. New upgraded brakes (larger 88 Carrat) Replaced front upper & lower control arms to 88 carrat as well. All new rubber bushing , stabilizers. New Rotors & Pads, Drums & Shoes. Both Master & Slave cylinder replaced. Shocks replaced 1997 . Brand new Go Westy 3 - Window / Screen Hemp pop-top. Pricey but nice! All new pop-top seals New Sky Light ( Go Westy). Upgraded ultra bright headlights bulbs. New Speedo cable ( Go Westy). Replaced starter with high torque TDi New Muffler & TailpipeInstalled new heavier battery cable (10 feet long) 4 Brand new tires with less than 2000 miles. Proper load rated. (Heavy duty side-walls) New propane fill valve & bleeder. Complete tune up and parts 2 years ago. Comes with two sets of front seats. Seats can be swapped in about a minute without the need for tools. One of each is pictured Everything works... Including kitchen Disclosures:Although it is very good shape. It is still a 28 year Van with many small imperfections. The dash has some sun fade to it.These vans are known for rusting at the body seams. This van has held up very well , but does have a little blistering at the rear horizontal near the marker light & above the tire This not serious metal rot....see photos. I would rate the body an 7 or 8 out of 10.Last autum the engine started getting that wet oil look. I had the heads checked and they are fine. It never leaves a drop on the driveway. The pushrod tubes are in great shape (its not them) Still runs fine, does not smoke...Could be a seal or something. I am confident of it's ability to get me anywhere I want to go for years. As you may know these vans are notoriusly under powered. Even when new off the showroom floor. They are also prone to have head gasket issues. There are many engine conversion alternatives out there such as TDi diesel, inline 4 cly VW, Audi, porsche, subaru etc... it was my intention to one day install one for this van. Now that choice is for the new owner. Vehicle is located4 hours from Washington D.C1 hour from Blacksburg or Roanoke Va.5 hours from Pittsburg5 hours from Asheville NC Buyer is responsible for shipping Any Questions? Just Ask On Jun-06-12 at 15:04:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Some answers & additional info: The front end is Not lower after changing components. The 84 springs were kept in place to keep the height the same. A Carrat does sits an inch or more lower than standard vanagons due to a shorter coil spring ...So I did not use it. Tires: The rears are Winston Winners 27 X 8.5 R14 LT. A pick-up truck all terrain. The Fronts are Triangle 195/R14C. I currently do not have the swing tables..I felt they got in the way and kept them hanging in the garage where I lived years ago in a neighboring state. I believe they may still be there.
