Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is my 1979 Pontiac Firebird TRANS AM. I bought this car five years ago and have put a lot of money and countless hours into it. The rebuilt engine is a "true" 1974 Pontiac 400cui (6.6 T/A) motor that only has about 5,000 miles on it and it was bored 30 over. It has a Competition Cam (Extreme Energy 262H) The heads were also redone. Edelbrock performer manifold, NEW Edelbrock carburetor (750cfm) Hooker headers, Flowmaster full weld exhaust, new alternator, new water pump, new ignition, double roller timing chain, starter, battery, new shocks, Etc. The list goes on. The transmission was rebuilt in January of 2011 and yes it is a TH400 (1979) with a B&M shift kit and low stall torque converter and also a "Factory" B&M slap shifter (1979 was the only year it was offered) As for the rear axle it was totally rebuilt. . .new everything. It has a Yukon Grizzly Locker (3.42) Posi-traction and it has no problem chirping the tires. This car is a torque monster and is really fun to drive. . .it's definitely a head turner. However I would NOT recommend purchasing this for a teenager. I personally did all the bodywork accept the actual spraying (This car had very little rust on it) The car was sprayed Pontiac black (Base Coat / Clear Coat) and looks awesome (when it's clean) I also installed all the decals. The only thing I have not touched (at all) is the interior. . .keep in mind it's 34 years old, but in good condition for that age. I rebuilt this car and intended it to be an every day driver and NOT a show car. It is set up for AC, but I have not installed it, but do have most of what you would need if you wish to go with AC. It does have two small leaks. One oil leak that is due to a pinched valve cover gasket and the other is a small transmission fluid leak from the governor cover (gasket) obviously both leaks are simple repairs. The windshield had a small crack in it when I bought it so I had the windshield replaced (also new) This car is NOT 100%, it still needs some small things (door hinge pins, carpeting, etc. . . The BF Goodrich T/A tires are like NEW. . .only about 4,000 miles on them. Speedometer isn't working correctly so I have no idea how many actual miles are on the car. Feel free to ask questions... Thanks and GOOD LUCK! On May-24-12 at 09:51:37 PDT, seller added the following information: a lot of people are asking questions about rust or if the car runs. YES the car runs and it runs good and strong! As for the rust...the only place I see anything rusted out is a small area on the drivers side floor pan, there is a hole where water probably was sitting at one time, but other than that I see no damaging rust at all, especially the frame...the frame is SOLID! as for the trunk...it is also SOLID. a lot of people are questioning the price (they think its low) but like I said this car is NOT a show car and it is NOT 100% restored. ***This car is also listed locally*** On May-25-12 at 05:26:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Have been getting VIN# requests also, so here it is and spelled out... 2W87W9N122742 2- Pontiac W- Trans am 87- Indicate it is a Coupe W- 301cui 9- 1979 N- Built in Norwood, OH Last 6 digits are the production number On May-26-12 at 05:42:48 PDT, seller added the following information: I will except the entire balance through PayPal, BUT the fee that PayPal charges will be added to the total.
