Vehicle Detail

Excellent 1988 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet I am the third owner of this 1988 Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet, which is in excellent condition, with 100% original paint, interior and carpet, has never been hit or damaged in any way, and has excellent panel fit and gaps throughout. The paint still retains its deep natural luster and does not require buffing or polishing to shine – a soft lint free cloth to wipe off the dust from storage is all that is needed to make the car show-ready every time I drive her. All of the rubber trim is in very good to excellent condition. The dash is near perfect. The leather seats have minimal wear. The car has never been smoked in. The top was replaced by the prior owner, but I have put it up only twice, and it is in excellent condition. The engine pulls strong to redline and sounds like a V8 Ferrari should. This Mondial is ready to be driven anywhere, and I continue to use the car so mileage may increase slightly. There are approximately 100 photos in the slideshow above, if you are unable to view these within the auction listing, please email me and I will be happy to send you a direct link to all of the photos. I have numerous service records for the car going back to the original delivery invoice by the original purchaser, as well as the original owner’s manual with leather pouch, the complete tool kit and jack and several related documents and a custom fitted car cover. The car received a major service (including timing belts & tensioner bearings) at 28,632 miles (car has 29,469 miles and counting as of June 3, 2012) by a highly regarded Southern California Ferrari specialist in September 2005. The service included the following items: - Engine oil & filter - Transmission and gear box fluid change - Coolant change - Alternator, water pump & AC belts replaced - Bleed brake lines & clutch fluid - Replace spark plugs; inspect ignition wires - Check RPM & adjust idle - Inspect fuse panels & relays - Replace misc hoses, trim, rubber, etc. - Complete Bosch K-Jetronic Tune-up & adjust mixture - Cooling system pressurization /inspection; rebuild radiator & new front hoses - Water pump rebuild & replaced - Timing belt replacement & bearings - Lubricate CV joints - Adjust valves - Replace O2 sensor - Replace front crank pulley seal - Replace distributor seals - Replace Cam seals & O-rings - Replace valve cover gaskets - Rebuild clutch slave cylinder - New expansion tank cap All of the above-described work is fully documented and detailed in a 2-page invoice from Eugenio's Ferrari Service. The mileage since the last service has been minimal, but you will need to decide if a belt service is needed. I am willing to discuss a credit for the cost of a belt service with a serious buyer. The transmission shifts smoothly up and down in all gears, but will grind when downshifting into 1st gear if the car is not stopped or going very slowly. 1-2 upshifts are not a problem (unlike many other Mondials, 308's and 328's which have trouble upshifting between 1st and 2nd, this one does not). This has not been an issue for me as long as I have owned the car, as I rarely use 1st gear except when moving away from a complete stop. I have received differing opinions as to whether this is normal, but I want to disclose all known conditions for the benefit of prospective purchasers. The battery is a new Interstate battery installed approximately 6 months ago. I have owned this car since 2004, but I rarely drive it now that my children have outgrown the back seat. My car has the original window sticker, complete books, service records from new and the tool kit. If you are in the market for a Mondial Cabriolet, you won’t find a cleaner car for the price. This car is ready to be driven and enjoyed, and I have attempted to describe the car accurately and completely in this description and the photo slideshow. I have updated the slideshow with new photos taken on June 3, 2012, along with several details taken a couple of months earlier. I would not hesitate to show this car at local and regional Ferrari events with nothing more than a wash. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. All documentation and records will be included for the buyer. I am open to serious offers from qualified buyers. Please contact me at 818-902-1112, 818-915-3606 or via eBay's email system for more information, to ask questions or to arrange an inspection of this beautiful Ferrari. I have clear North Carolina title in my name and the car is currently garaged in Beverly Hills, California, where it spends most of the time under a custom fitted cover. I have a clean CarFax report from several years ago as well. I am happy to help with transport as long as the buyer makes and pays for all the arrangements. In-person inspection if welcome and I am happy to take the car to a reputable local shop for a PPI, but please arrange all inspections prior to auction closing. All prospective purchasers agree that this description is solely for convenience. My description is my opinion only, and should not be considered a complete description of any or all faults, and may not be relied upon, taken as fact or otherwise considered a representation or warranty or any sort. The car is sold as-is, where-is with all faults known or unknown. These should only be considered the ramblings of a guy who likes cars. Please see the car in person or send a representative for inspection. A pre-purchase inspection is strongly encouraged and I can happily take the car to one of the well-known nearby shops if you organize and pay for a PPI. Remember, this is a 24 year old car that has been used; it is not showroom new. If you have ever had an old car, or you are considering owning one, you should understand that there is an almost endless list of repairs, improvements, corrections and details that can be attended to. Like the car, I am old too, so I may have forgotten things that are important to you. That’s why you should send someone to inspect this or any car you are considering purchasing. I apologize for this lawyerly disclaimer, but we live in strange times. Thanks.
