Vehicle Detail
Blue boy... Up for bid is this very sweet 1966 Ford Ranchero. Factory equipped with a all numbers matching 289 V-8 and 4 speed manual transmission. This little car has been loved it's whole life and it shows. Sold new in the small little town of Emmett Idaho, it was famous locally for it's cherries and it's cherry festival. Well here is a "cherry" of a different sort. Its hard enough to find a good Ranchero of any year because alot of them were used as pickups where they were used up. Very few ever had 4 speeds and if they did they usually were modified into hot rods and lived a difficult life. But here's one that survived with tender loving care and was left "bone stock" with 98000 original miles. I take that back, it has a new true dual exhaust system with quiet mufflers. The little old lady that cared for the car had it repainted a different color in the early 70's because it was originally silver and its now light blue. As was common for the time it was carefull masked off and painted with acrylic enamel and it has a wonderful Patina. Its been touched up here & there and wax's up pretty good but dont expect a ten thousand dollar paint job. The bed area was probably scuff sanded and painted but with trips to the car wash to rinse out the yard debris seems to have taken it toll on the beds finish. But that's the car's Patina. Its so much more satisfying than a "show car". You can actually use it as a pickup and take stuff to the dump, just don't abuse it. All the original chrome does not have a pit in it anywhere! It has never had a radio in it and it doesn't have power steering but its just a blast to drive! The engine is as quiet as a mouse, the transmission as slick as a scalpel (it's a Ford toploader). You probably will never see another 66 Ranchero like this one. Best of luck with your bidding.
