Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1967 Ford Country Sedan 4-Door 6 Passenger Station Wagon - NO RESERVE! Hello! Up for auction at no reserve is a 1967 Ford Country Sedan 4-door 6-passenger station wagon equipped with the 289 Challenger V-8 (289-2V, 200 hp) engine, FX SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission, Vintage Burgundy paint, and a parchment all-vinyl interior. HistoryI purchased this one-owner Michigan car with 120,000 miles in July 2011 from the estate of the original owner, Jack Unsworth. The car was in non-operative condition after 20 years of storage in Jack’s garage. This car was used faithfully by Jack from 1967 through 1991 to commute back and forth from his home in Detroit, Michigan to his job at the Ford Rouge Complex in Dearborn, and for family excursions. He maintained the car very well through the years, logging all of the repairs and servicing done. This maintenance work and the Ziebart rustproofing done when the car was brand new are the reasons that this car still exists today.Condition & Work Performed After a bit of work following its 20-year slumber, this car now runs and drives beautifully. It is such a fun and sweet little car to drive around town or on the highway! Just pump the gas pedal twice, turn the ignition key, and the 289 fires right up. Put it in gear, and the car moves down the road just as smoothly as can be. The transmission shifts with no issues, all interior and dash lights, exterior lights, instruments, switches, windows, and doors work just as they should. With the rear window cranked down, the Magic Doorgate opens like a tailgate, or alternately like a door, just as designed. The heater blows hot air when you want it, and the kick panel vents let in lots of outside air when opened. The AM radio still pushes music and commentary through the single in-dash speaker. The car even sports the 1967 Michigan license plates “AK 4783” that were issued when the car was driven home by Jack from Ray Whitfield Ford in Taylor, Michigan on Saturday, April 8, 1967! The work performed to bring this car to its present reliable running state is as follows: - changed the oil and oil filter - installed all new spark plugs - installed new ignition points and condenser - installed new in-line and carburetor-mounted fuel filters - changed the coolant - had the carburetor rebuilt - installed a used vacuum advance unit - installed a used battery - installed a used gas tank - installed a new in-tank fuel filter - had the transmission serviced - installed a new master cylinder - installed 4 new brakes lines (master cylinder to distribution block, distribution block to rear end, rear end to left-hand wheel cylinder, and rear end to right-hand wheel cylinder) - installed 3 new brake hoses - installed 4 new wheel cylinders - installed all new brakes shoes - installed all new brake hardware - installed a new right rear brake drum - installed new inner and outer front wheel bearings - had a new muffler and tailpipe installed - had 5 used (11,000 miles) Goodyear Club P215/75R15 tires installed - installed 2 new low-beam and 2 new high-beam headlights - installed new headlight dimmer switch - installed all new dash light bulbsThis is a very sharp-looking car in Vintage Burgundy with that long roof, black sidewall tires, body color painted steel wheels, and dog dish hubcaps, just as the car was ordered by Jack. There are numerous nicks and scratches in the paint, as expected on a 45 year-old car that was used for more than half that time. The floor pans of the car are solid other than a couple of small holes on the driver side. The frame is solid, with no holes. The driver side fender was replaced at some point. Some body and paint work has been performed on this car over the years. There are glass fiber patches in the front lower portion of both rear wheelwells. There is body filler in the lower driver side quarter panel that is starting to show, and the spare tire well in the lower passenger side quarter panel is rusting through (see pictures).VIN & Production Data Decode This car is Registry Number 4500 in the 1967 Ford Full-Size Registry, and has the following VIN and production data: VIN 7W71C183511, BODY 71B, COLOR X, TRIM 7U, DATE 31C, DSO 33, AXLE 1, TRANS X The VIN of 7W71C183511 decodes as follows: 7 = model year: 1967 W = build plant: Wayne Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan 71 = Body Serial Code: Country Sedan 4-door 6-passenger station wagon, bench seats (55,387 produced during the 1967 model year) * C = engine: 289 Challenger V-8, 289-2V, 200 hp @ 4400 rpm, 282 lb-ft @ 2400 rpm, 9.3:1 compression ratio 183511 = Consecutive Unit Number (CUN): 83,511th Ford car scheduled to be built at the Wayne Assembly Plant during the 1967 model year (Job 1 was CUN 100001) The production data of 71B X 7U 31C 33 1 X decode as follows: BODY 71B = Body Style Code: Country Sedan 4-door 6-passenger station wagon, bench seats (55,387 produced during the 1967 model year) * COLOR X = exterior paint color: Vintage Burgundy (maroon metallic) TRIM 7U = interior trim color, material and front seat style: light parchment "Parnay Stripe" vinyl cushions and pastel parchment "Crinkle" grain vinyl bolsters, bench seat DATE 31C = scheduled build date: Friday, March 31, 1967 DSO 33 = District Sales Office: car was originally ordered through the Detroit, Michigan sales district, which covered southeastern Michigan and northwestern Ohio AXLE 1 = rear axle ratio, type and ring gear diameter: 3.00:1 non-locking, 9” TRANS X = transmission type and shift location: FX SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic, column shift * Over the years, you may have seen a production figure of 50,818 Country Sedan 4-door 6-passenger station wagons built during the 1967 model year, but amazingly enough, Ford neglected to include the units built at the Oakville Assembly Plant (located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada) in this "total"!
