Vehicle Detail

Completely stock and original, one 30 year owner (1976-2005), rust-free, well-maintained, perfectly running, low mileage (55,401), 1976 Ford F350 Super Camper Special XLT pickup truck. This is the rare one that Ford made with an extended wheel base (but with the same 8' bed length as an F250) and the spare tire well ahead of the right rear wheel (even has original spare). It actually was the same frame Ford used on their larger, commercial, flatbed trucks. They just fit a bed over it to create the largest, most heavy duty hauling and towing machine of it's day. It was bought new by a Central-Southern Utah farmer in 1976 and used mostly in and around his farm until he passed on in 2005. He maintained it religiously and kept it away from salt. The only rust you see is cosmetic surface rust where some of the original paint chipped or flaked off (a common Ford issue). Surface rust is basically Mother Nature's protectant. Once a piece of metal gets a coating of it (easily sanded/brushed off), as long as the metal is exposed to air (as opposed to moisture... and even that's okay if it's exposed to air soon after... such as rainfall), it's protected for life. Witness cars abandoned in the desert. Consequently, the body is in great shape. It has no accident history, all original paint, no rust-through and all trim except one piece (see pics). It's only flaws are some bending of rear fender sheet metal behind each rear tire caused by tire belt separation some time ago. The interior is in great shape as well. Everything works (even the factory original AM radio). It still has the original carpeting and upholstery, no cracks in the dash, doors open and close solidly, windows roll up and down smoothly, lights work, blinkers, gauges, etc. The door panels are getting a little bit loose around the arm rests but that's it. And the running gear is incredible. It has a stock 390CID engine with the factory Motorcraft/Holley 4BBL carburetor (recently rebuilt) and a new fuel pump, 4 speed manual transmission (T-98 I think), and the HD rear differential (DANA 60/70, Sterling 10.25? I'm not sure). Tires in front are in great shape and the rears are probably at 35-50%. We've driven it to Phoenix a couple times (about a 600 mile round trip) and she performs flawlessly. The drivetrain is very tight with no rattles or clunks. We recently replaced the flywheel and installed a new starter and noticed the clutch was in great ship so we did not replace it. We also just installed a new TruGrade Control Module for the ignition. Fluids are all fresh and I wouldn't hesitate to drive this beauty any distance. It's only imperfection is that it needs a gas line valve replaced to operate both fuel tanks. We just use the front tank these days. This is a barn-find, museum piece, time-warp, survivor type of truck in my opinion. It's all stock, original, rust-free, cosmetically pure, and mechanically excellent. I hope she finds a home where someone will give her the stewardship she deserves. Trucks like this can be restored over and over but they are only original once. Just like this one. I also have tons of pics. Please send me a non-Ebay email address and I will get them to you. My name is Chris and I am happy to answer your questions. Feel free to call me at 435-669-1470. The truck and I are both located in the dry, desert community of St. George, Utah (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas. Thank you very much for your interest. On May-19-12 at 00:14:11 PDT, seller added the following information: The truck is actually the Ranger model which is above the XLT and was the top of the line trim level available in 1976. Sorry for the error. On May-22-12 at 20:22:18 PDT, seller added the following information: A very sharp Ford truck expert deciphered the VIN tag and told me that my truck has a New Process 435 4 speed manual transmission and a Dana 70 rear differential with 4.10 gearing. Thanks for the info.On May-26-12 at 14:18:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Gotta get this beauty sold to fund other projects. I just lowered the Reserve to $3000. I think it's worth way more than that but it's gotta go. I simply cannot emphasize enough how well this truck runs and drives and how solid and well-preserved it is. Good luck and good bidding.
