Sales literature at the time touted the sleek, luxurious new cat as "The Mans Car." It would be Motor Trends car of the year. " See your dealer - At the Sign of the Cat " The exterior showcases a repaint of the original Lime Frost Metallic. The paint is very good to excellent throughout. This refinish work was done in 2006 at a cost of over $3,800 with verifying receipts. This is an exceptional dry climate Cougar and it shows. The original brightwork is intact and in good condition throughout. Note the factory side moulding throughout along with polished wheel well trim. ( That is a reflection in the paint, not a bubble) Open the doors to 1968. This Cougar showcases the original Light Ivy Gold Crinkle Vinyl interior. The interior features luxurious bucket seating along with a center console. The horn is rim-blow operated. The gauges are original and in good condition. There is an aftermarket temperature gauge mounted under the dash out of sight. The original Philco radio has been replaced with a Pioneer cassette stereo and is included. There is also a CD changer mounted in the trunk. We do have the original radio. The dash is original. Under the hood is the optional 302 c.i. 4bbl. V8. This powerplant runs smooth and strong. it is paired with the C4 automatic transmission. Regular engine options ranged from a 2bbl. smallblock V8 up to the 390 4bbl. V8. The Mercury Cougar was promoted as a sport luxury car. It was built on a similar chassis to Ford's Mustang only slightly longer. We have the original owners manual, warranty booklet, and more vintage documentation. The trunk features a spare tire/wheel, jacking equipment and a CD changer. The underbody is further indicative of a dry climate car. The flooring and trunk are original and the undercarriage looks to be in exceptional condition throughout. Fly Low or Fly High, many of our photos were taken at the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum, located only minutes from our showroom. The tinted glass is in good condition throughout. The door panels are original and in good condition, showing wear primarily on the arm rests. The door undersides are clean and solid, this is a dry climate Cougar. Enjoy the remaining photos and feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is located at 1912 W.
