I am listing this 1997 BMW 540i. It has been a good car for me, but I don't get to drive it often now. These cars like to be driven, and don't like to sit. The Bad: Wipers are not working. I don't think there is power going to the wiper motor. I have changed relays and stalk. Still not working. I got a used module, it may resolve the problem, but the module has to be programmed by BMW. (module, extra stalk included w/ car). Back left window regulator broken. Car comes with a new regulator, new owner will have to install it. Air conditioner not blowing cold. Trunk Lockset broken. Remote works for opening trunk, but lockset will have to be replaced if one wants to use a key in the trunk. There is a minor ding below the right rear tail light, and a couple of hood paint chips from rocks. The Good: This is a fun car. It commands the road as only a BMW can. It is quick and looks really good for its age. The transmission and engine are strong, and I have never had a problem with either. I bought the car about 4 years ago and have really enjoyed it. Unfotunately, due to a new job, I am basically only driving my truck. The BMW doesn't like to sit. Overall, I would say interior and exterior are 7's. This is not a perfect car, but it is a very dependable car. If someone has minor mechanical abilities, the few problems can be fixed quickly, and they will have a very nice car! On May-19-12 at 05:42:38 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: Yesterday I was running the car and the radio went intermittently off. The radio is functioning, but the sound went out and would come back, etc. Many forums suggest an ignition switch could be the root problem behind both the radio and the wipers. I put a new battery (advance auto platinum) in the car last night on the off chance that would clear the issue up, it did not (The new battery will obviously come with the car). So, it is quite possibly a faulty ignition switch. Bidders that bid before this note may retract if this is going to be a deal breaker.
