Vehicle Detail
This classic vehicle is Pearl White (which is really Ivory) and is in very good condition overall. The interior is in excellent condition, with brown chestnut seats and headliner. The headliner has no rips or tears. The vehicle itself is a 455 automatic, with newer tires, battery, spark plugs, ignition and distributor cap. It was special ordered by an oil executive and is top of the line - power windows, lap and shoulder belts and A/C...all uncommon for the era. This owner had the car in California for a number of years, at which time it went to his vacation home in Idaho. When the vacation home was sold, the cars were sold with the home and the new owner moved the car back to California. (It has always been and is currently registered in California.) At one point, the car was trailered to Georgia, where it starred in the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. It was subsequently returned to California to its garage, where it has spent much of its life. It has seldom been driven in the last five years, but has been meticulously maintained. With only 92,500 original miles, it looks and sounds great. It was recently let out of the garage, given a new battery and it started right up, raring to go. It's hard hittin'!!! The Buick Estate was introduced in 1970 as a separate series on the B-body with a 124.0-inch (3,150 mm) wheelbase, basic body and interior with an all-steel body. The LeSabre Custom's bright rocker, wheelhouse and rear lower fender moldings were used. Interiors were all vinyl in a Custom grade. Despite being on the B-body it shared the Electra's Buick 455 V8 (the 7.4-liter 455 working through a heavy-duty three-speed turbo-hydramatic) and four Ventiports on the front fenders. This was Buick's first full-sized station wagon since 1964. The following year the Buick Estate would move up to Electra's larger body and more voluminous interior (the C-body). The Estate Wagon was the minivan of the 1960s and ’70s, with carbureted V-8s and rear-wheel-drive. Production of this vehicle was limited to approximately 16,000 units and it has been estimated that there are less than 50 of this particular model still on the road. What this car has: 455 V-8 4BBL Automatic Nearly new steel-belted tires with original hubcaps Electric windows and air conditioning All seats fold down. Rear facing back seat. Cool! Two way tailgate. What it needs: Neither the clock, nor the am radio seem to work - may be a fuse Floor carpeting in front driver and passenger area could use replacing Driver's seat has a few rips that could be repaired There are a few rust spots and dings on the body - but it is non-corrosive, cosmetic rust There is some paint bubbling above the rear passenger wheel well The rear bumper is rusty and could use to be replaced or re-chromed A/C could use to be recharged Buick emblem on front is cracked and the word "Buick" on the rear is missing the "u" Overall, this car is a true slice of Americana. It is perfect as a driver, or with a little extra-special TLC, this car could easily be fully restored to its former glory.
