Please note that this is Special Order car – NOT a Special Edition car. There was a Special Edition car offered in yellow in 2002 but it is more of a cheese-colored yellow and has pearl in it. This car is much better looking and far more unusual than a Special Edition car. This yellow appears to be an exact match for the Sunburst yellow that Mazda used in 1992 when they first made about 1500 yellow Miatas. The photos do not do it justice. This car was ordered and purchased thru a Special Order Program that Mazda offered to “Loyal Mazda Owners” for 2002 (the 10th anniversary after the first yellow Miatas were produced). One evening I received a phone call directly from Mazda inviting me to participate in this Special Order Program. There were two special colors available only thru this Special Order Program, a special Yellow and special Blue. The Mazda representative explained all the details of the program to me and at the end she even sang the Zoom Zoom Zoom song (she had a good singing voice too)!!! She gave me a special website to go to and place my order which I did. I ordered an LS model (nicely optioned with leather and power features) with a 6 speed manual transmission. In a few months my new Miata arrived with only 3 miles showing on the odometer. According to Mazda, this Miata is 1 of 239 produced making it quite a rare car. In addition to the unique color and the way the car was purchased the car has amazingly low mileage. The years have flown by and I have put very few miles on this car. I am a car collector and I have a lot of cars so none of them get driven very much. This Miata is in virtually the same condition today as when it rolled off the assembly line.
