Vehicle Detail
EXTREMELY RARE AMERICAN BANTAM COUPE! This is an American Bantam STEEL Coupe body only! The American bantam was produced from 1930-1934 in several body styles. The "Roadster" is a popular fiberglass drag car type...ALL other body styles are VERY hard to find! This is a COUPE! The body is pretty solid for a REAL STEEL car that sat outside for 30+ years!!!!! This Coupe body was an old HOT ROD here in the Seattle area in the Early 1960's!!!!! The owners Son built the car for the street... with radiused rear fenders and a high gasser style front end. The body sat on his property (body only) for 30+ years......it took me a long time to try to buy it. In fact...I missed it. He sold it to someone else.... by chance a few years later i saw the body advertised and bought it. I have had it stored under cover since...but I am losing some storage space and MUST downsize a few projects (unfortunately). The doors are VERY solid for their age with rust out along the bottoms...but otherwise solid. The lower sills and doglegs on the body are gone (either torched or rusted or both)... but the sheetmetal is pretty solid otherwise. The top was filled in the 60's with a piece of metal....it's crude and needs to be removed...but the body should be braced first---so I'm leaving it for now. The only other change to the body is that the extended firewall has been cut off. (picture the cowl without the extended firewall). The piece is included. This is a VERY rare, hard to find body! It would make a GREAT GASSER style hot rod (with some history) or a unique street rod. These coupe's look WICKED chopped! I have included "AS FOUND" pics..... as well as photo's taken about 6 months ago....and a few vintage pics of Bantam Drag cars, etc. (to give you an idea) This auction is for the BODY ONLY....it IS sitting on a frame in one of the photos.... FRAME NOT INCLUDED...JUST THE BODY WITH DOORS................ Don't let this one pass you by!!!!!! I have NOT seen a Bantam Coupe body on Ebay...well.....possibly.....EVER! (don't get me wrong... this isn't the only one in the world...but it IS Rare!!!). Let me know if you have any questions. Overall length is like 6 feet or less....... should be able to ship freight or otherwise...YOU figure it out and I will help if I can. Thanks. THIS AUCTION IS FOR A COUPE BODY------ NO TITLE...... BILL OF SALE included.... SOLD AS IS! FOR SALE locally.... I have the right ot end auction if it sells locally. All items are presented to the best of my knowledge as advertised. All descriptions of condition are my opinion, additional photos available as long as you contact me at least 12 hours before the end of auction. It is YOUR responsibility to verify application, and ask questions BEFORE you buy! All items are sold AS IS. Thank you! You are MORE THAN WELCOME to pick this up or arrange shipping. I will help load, or even trailer it within 20 miles----possibly at additional expense. Please coordinate with me. On May-04-12 at 21:35:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had several people express an opinion about the year. The American Austin/ Bantam was built from 1930-1934.... then again from 1938-1941. I have always assumed that this body is a 1932-34..... but it could be 1938-41. As a Hot Rod... you can title it as whatever year you want....
