Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction- 1997 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon in very good condition. I purchased this car for my mother in 2008, and when she passed I kept it as a second car. It is a 20 valve, 190 horsepower, 197 lb. ft. torque low-pressure turbo that is designed to drive and feel like a luxury car. It has all the amenities available at that time, all working, including heated leather seats, CD player, power windows and power sunroof. It has a reinforced safety cage built into the body to provide that much more security in the event of an accident. I kept up with maintenance and oil changes, and I have used the same mechanic for the past four years, who can verify the work that has been done. I replaced the spark plugs and wires in Feb., 2010 (replacing the original) put new brake pads and rotors on in Sept. 2010, new rear shocks and fuel pump (again, replacing the original) in Nov. 2011, and replaced the fuel pressure regulator this past week after noticing the car was running rich and my mileage was suffering. I consistently get 20/28 mpg in this car, and am back to that number after replacing the fuel pressure regulator. All belts are in good condition, with no cracking. The interior is in very good condition, with no rips or tears in the leather. The center console is beginning to show the first signs of cracks. There are cosmetic nics and scratches on the body, with very small, open spots of rust on the very front of the hood from years of highway driving. The body panels are all tight, the transmission is also tight and smooth, and the car tracks perfectly straight. The right front tire is brand new, after a recent flat, and the others are at approximately 50% tread remaining. I lose about a teaspoonful of oil per week, nothing that is noticed between changes as far as the oil level goes. Issues with the car: AC blows cold but not as ice cold as it could, so may need to be recharged this summer. The back right power window sticks on occasion. The right side rear trim has come off; I have the piece, and it can be replaced with new plastic hangers. The ABS TRACS light comes on on occasion, so the ABS module will more than likely need to be replaced. This does not affect the driving or handling of the car, but if you're facing a snowy winter, this would be good to have corrected. I will answer any questions as promptly as possible, and I am willing to drive 100 miles out from my zip code with the car to meet someone who's interested, if they will be travelling a significant distance. I'm starting this at a low price at no reserve with the idea that the ABS module will need replacing, and within a year or so, the tires (at least three of them) should be replaced. This is a good, reliable car at what I think is a veryfair price. We were going to keep it for my college-age daughter, but have gone with a Honda Fit for the gas mileage and cute factor. Thanks, good luck-
