Take a good look at this car....I have never seen one before! Peugeot stopped importing cars officially into the USA in 1991, yet this is a genuine 1992 US model, as identified by its title and serial number (10th digit of the VIN is an "N". The 405 was the last model that was imported into the USA. I have heard that there may be as few as 50 of these cars in the US, possibly even less. The car retains its original white paint and all panels retain their original serial number stickers, indicating an accident free history. The car was purchased new by a Peugeot factory service rep and is a 2 owner CARFAX CERTIFIED car. Smooth Automatic Transmission, PS, ABS, Cold Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Locks, Power Mirrors, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, Intermittent Wipers, Premium anti-theft Audio System with Power Antenna, heated leather seats, Power Sun Roof, factory alloys and new tires, new battery, new brakes, new headlight switch. Heater fan works great, but has two positions..."high" and "off." Works on all temperature settings. The car has beautiful and shiny paint that is very near being "blemish free", with the exception of a few very very minor "door dings" that hardly show up even in pictures. The leather seating surfaces are not ripped or torn in any way, rather they look appropriate and original for a car of 20 years old. They could be "freshened" very easily with some simple leather dye to look like new. The original dash, door panels and headliner are exquisite and appear near new. All glass is great with the exception of the front windshield which has a small crack across the lower passenger corner. The car is very clean under the hood with a new thermostat and fresh oil change. The car gets about 22-23 MPG in town and 28-30 MPG on the highway...not too bad! Starts, runs and drives great! All lighting/lenses are in excellent condition; no cracks or chips. Trunk lock accuator seems to work and you can hear it, but I am not sure how to open the trunk. I have both original factory keys, for the door/trunk and ignition. Original front driver's floor mat has lost its luster and could use some freshening as it has faded a bit over time.Car has NEVER been smoked in and is absolutely RUST FREE. Comes with its original set of manuals in original case. The 405 was voted European Car of the Year for 1988 by the largest number of votes in the history of the contest. The appearance of the car bears similarities to those of the Alfa Romeo 164, launched the same year and also styled by Pininfarina. After inspection of the emission label, it indicates that the car is a "1.905 Liter" and it is also California compliant, meaning it is a "50 State" car. Just for a laugh, I "pushed" the trunk button in WITHOUT the key in it and to my surprise, the trunk popped open just the way it should. In there, I found: Original parts manuals, an engine overhaul manual, a box of parts, two extra hoses, service receipts, the original owner's information, a factory tool kit, and more. This proves to me that you need to be SMARTER than the trunk lock to operate it...in my case, I was trying too complicated a method. I also added two new pictures, one of the back seat, one of the newly opened trunk!
