Vehicle Detail
I can't believe I'm actually selling my "Speedy" Speed Buggy. A 1965 Volkswagen Dune Buggy, fiberglass body manufactured by Citation, (Citation II model) with removeable hard top. I've had a new "rebuilt" engine installed, new gas tank fabricated and installed, and new clutch. The state of CT is driving me nuts trying to license the little car here, and I've had it...so I'm finally selling the little car. It is only 1250 pounds, and with a manual transmission, gets over 40 miles per gallon (actually closer to 50). The "winter" hard top has orange and clear side curtains that snap on, and the "summer" top makes the little car look like a smaller Jeep CJ. I've always wanted to try to find a 65 orange dune buggy, since growing up with Hanna-Barbera cartoons and 1973's "Speed Buggy". I found some drawings from the cartoon and there was a box on a lot of the sketches that said 65Series, and I inquired about the meaning...a response back from Cartoon Network who now owns Hanna-Barbera, stated that one of the artists who helped create Speed Buggy, based the car off a 1965 dune buggy...well I found mine in Florida, where it was licensed a 1965 VW, but this state of Connecticut wants me to register the car as a composite, and a 2012! I would lose all classic insurance and benefits...so that's the story. I am negotiable in the price, and the little car will need to be trailed/towed/flatbedded to your location before you put it on the road I've been told. I currently have the bill of sale from the dealer in Florida to me. I will give a bill of sale from the state of Connecticut to the new buyer, along with the Florida bill of sale. Currently, the insurance I have through USAA is $163.71 for 6-months...non-classic insurance, because it covers it a little more...On Apr-03-12 at 15:30:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I also have a tow bar for the buggy that I will be giving to the winner of the little car. It will tow VW Bugs, buggies, and Karmann Ghias (I know about the ghias becuase a couple years ago I used the bar to tow a 73 Ghia convertable)...the bar is worth a couple hundred bucks, but if I don't have the little car, I have no need for it....
