Vehicle Detail
I have spent over 8 months and not just a few hours on the weekends restoring this classic Volvo to it's former glory and in some respects beyond. I started and finished this project with intentions of the finished product being a very proud 'daily driver' of exceptional quality both cosmetically and mechanical, mechanical with a bit more emphasis or focus on enhanced performance and handling when compared to was stock issue.......read on, if you please. Motor, transmission, suspension and brakes were completely professionally rebuilt (completely meaning top to bottom not just this and that). Transmission included all new Seals and Gaskets (top to bottom) as well as new Transmission Mounts, Carrier Bearing etc etc..... Suspension rebuild consists of brand new Bilstein struts and shocks and IPD (TME) lowering springs, new tie rod ends and ball joints etc....: Brakes: Rebuilt calipers, Four new Brembo's rotors and new Volvo Factory pads along with all new brake lines and master cylinder. Original Motor and Transmission both of which had zero issues and were far from worn out. Motor and Garrett turbo rebuild - all new Main Bearings - IPD ITEM Number - 105655, Intermediate Shaft Bearings- IPD Item Number -114420, Rod Bearings - IPD Item Number - 101296, Piston Set (.024 Oversize) - IPD Item Number - 103073, Wrist Pin Bushings - IPD Item Number -103020, Deves Piston Rings Set - IPD Item Number -103474, Pan Gasket Set- IPD Item Number - 101408, Valves & Valve Seals, IPD Turbo Cam Shaft - IPD Item Number - 109328, Head Gasket Set - IPD Item Number -101383, Timing Belt & Timing Belt Tensioner, water pump, Motor Mounts, Starla (OEM) Cat Back Exhaust System - IPD Item Number - 115533, Injectors, Cap, Rotor, Plug wires, Spark Plugs, FPR, Fuel Pumps / Pre Pump & relay(s), Fuel Filter, ICV, MAF/ AMM/AMS, Heater Control Valve, 8mm Magnacore Racing plug wires and Volvo factory spark plugs, cap, rotor and so many other various nuts bolts, hardware sets and seals that are just too much too list.......Engine wiring harness/plugs are perfect! Euro Sport cold air intake.Exterior: All original sheet metal, no rust, no accidents, no bondo! Also have the clean CarFax report. All trim, door handles etc.were removed. Completely and professionally refinished in the original 414 color code. Top surfaces were taken down to bare metal while the balance was sanded prepped and primed and refinished. Products and steps: PPG Deltron primer - PPG seal coat - PPG base coat (2 coats), PPG clear coat (3 coats). Mirrors, wiper arms, heater/ac inlet mesh screen, door handles, grille (was first disassembled), bumper skins, headlight surrounds rear lower valance and every single molding was properly prepped primed and refinished in the original satin black finish. As you can see the only deviation from stock was that the chrome head light surrounds and all emblems were properly prepped, primed and finished to match. To complete the new exterior finish brand new tail light assemblies (including new foam seals and circuit boards), turn signal assemblies, parking light assemblies and new Fog/Driving light lenses were installed. Windshield is clear, no chips, cracks (and none repaired) with new Bosch wiper blades. Finally I added a rather rare NOS Volvo factory accessory spoiler.Interior: Completely gutted cleaned and sanitized, literally headliner right down to and including the metal floor boards. All interior parts removed and cleaned/sanitized on both sides in other words whether the surface shows or not, including console storage and glove compartments (BTW the console storage lid nipple and receiver are intact) as well as all the seat belts (fully extended) !! Other than the obvious (door pockets, door defroster vents, seat side storage/seat belt guides and console lid which are from a black interior car) the interior is original and shows wear/patina commensurate with that of a much newer car. No broken or missing interior trim! No tears or rips! Seat foam is not broken down and has full support. Adjustable driver seat lumbar support and height adjustment mechanism work perfect Seat heaters...well I'm not sure as I never had an opportunity to use them (individual switches do illuminate to indicate they're on). Hat self was professionally recovered (black original style material) , IPD dash cap installed, seat tracks were also disassembled cleaned and lubricated. In the process of prepping for paint (door handles key locks) all door panels had to be removed so I also took the time to service the window tracks (inspected and lubricated) and well as cleaned and lubricated the key locks. Sunroof tracks and mechanism were also cleaned and lubricated All options work as new.! All switch indicator lights, dash lights, glove box light, dome/map lights, vanity mirror lights and seat belt warning lights illuminate (back seat as well) as intended. Side note: A Pioneer 12 disc CD player which plays through the original factory head unit was also added.Special Note: Some pictures were taken with the original wheels and tires ( the tires have really good tread but they are dry checked) which I still have and that will be included and the balance of the pics with ' her ' wearing the Volvo factory 'Hydra' wheels (16 inch) which are straight and true (not repaired) in near mint condition (no curb rash) but a few scratches from storage (see pics). Tires are a very nice matched set of Yokohama TRZ Avid size 205/60R16 with nice deep tread (at least 1/2 - 2/3 of original tread depth) and of which are evenly worn.Undoubtedly I have missed a percentage of what has gone into this 8 month long labor of love so please ask (ONLY if you're serious about purchasing). Since I have personally covered every square inch of this car I would guarantee it's been replaced or at least checked/cleaned, but again, please ask just the same or better yet come and take a look, I guarantee you won't be disappointed ! I have been working on Volvo's since I was knee high to a grass hopper and as such, have the knowledge all of the 'little things' that can and do fail over time and addressed them all. A total of 75-100 detailed pictures (including undercarriage shots) are posted on Photo Bucket. Links are not allowed in the listing so please email me with your request and I'll respond with the link. I will help with shipping in any way I can and would even consider driving the car to your door step (points mid or South West).
