Vehicle Detail

1978 AMC GREMLIN, this'SURVIVOR-QUALITY' car exempifies the fun-loving '70s with one previous owner in southern California. Here's a prime and rare example of a rust-free final-year Gremlin. This car SHOUTS "FUN IN THE SUN" with it's 'Sunburst Yellow' paint accented by vibrant white rally stripes. Inside, the original tan vinyl interior has held up nicely with no rips, tears and only minimal signs of wear and some sun fading. The original 258 cid inline 6-cylinder engine runs strong with no smoke and a minor, random 'click' at times coming from under the hood. The 3-speed automatic transmission shifts smooth and strong. Other options include power steering, air conditioning (compressor engages properly, but it could use re-charging). There is minor damage to the left rear of the car at the end of the bumper and the front bumper is lightly damaged just below the right headlight. The original AM/FM radio will be re-installed before sending this car to it's new home. The car could use a new set of tires as the ones on the car are many years old and show some weather-checking in the sidewalls. The brakes stop the vehicle straight and sure. There's a minor exhaust leak, but the car is quiet. There are a few very nice 'survivor' Gremlins still available and this is one of them. As this vehicle is 34 years old, there's no warranty expressed or implied--please ask any/all questions (816) 812-1965) before bidding as our reserve is low and this cute little Gremlin will sell! On Apr-01-12 at 04:47:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note -- as a 'survivor' class car, this vehicle is wearing approximately 75% of it's factory-applied paint which, as you might imagine, shows some minor chips in the paint and some sun fading as this car spent it's life until last year in sunny southern California. There is some paint chipping in the door frame/edge area and in the lower rocker panel areas with some very minor surface rust, but there's no rust-through anywhere on this car. The undercarriage is solid with less than normal soilage and no collision or rust damage. There's a significant increase in interest in 'survivor' quality vehicles and here's your chance to own one of the most unique ones on the market. The bright moldings around the wheel wells could use removing and polishing and the chrome on the roof rack shows some significant pitting and finish damage due to weathering...it's also missing one of the stainless 'spears' that are part of the roof rack. All systems function well including transmission, lights, turn signals, brakes, etc. An under-dash temperature gauge has been added as the original one in the gauge cluster is inoperable. I have another complete dash unit that comes with the car. This car is a joy to drive.
