It was built on the same platform as the 924, although 924 production continued through 1988. The 944 was intended to last into the 1990s, but major revisions planned for a 944 S3 model were eventually rolled into the 968 instead, which replaced the 944. The 944 was a successful model and was available as both a coupe and cabriolet in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. In 1987, the 944 S was introduced. The 944S featured a normally aspirated, dual overhead cam 16 valve 192 PS (141 kW; 189 hp) version of the 2.5 litre engine. This marked the first use of four valve per cylinder heads in the 944 series. Performance was quoted as 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds and 230 km/h (140 mph) top speed. Dual air bags were optional on the 944S, as was ABS As always, we would like to thank our friends at the Frontiers Of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field, for their great background for some of our photos. This is a 2 owner car and although the original owner was in New York, there is no evidence of rust and the car was very well taken care of. We have receipts from the first owner from 2007 when he spent over $4000. on improvements and maintainence. Disk brakes all around Texas Classic Cars is located just north of down town Dallas. Within the last 10 months it was treated to all new timing and balance belt, water pump kit, valve cover gaskets, and much more. It was serviced in May of this year as well. All work performed by Auto Hans of Addison. We have receipts totalling about $3,000. The paint is in good condition, showing some minor imperfections like surface scratches and few little road chip touch ups. Our Porsche 944S has this sun roof as well as a second smoked glass moon roof that comes with the car. Also included is a front bra. All of the glass is good. The low mileage on this car is believed to be original. This car runs well. All gauges are working, and and the a/c is working as well. The door panels are in very good condition as well as the underside of both doors There There are some seems separated on the drivers seat. The dash has some cracks from the sun after 24 years, but the owner actually has a doner 944 with a bad engine that has a black dash and he is selling both cars for this incredible buy it now of $7500. This is a nice 944 S and will make someone a good weekend driver. Rear seating is in excellent condition. The undercarriage is solid and looks very clean. We will do all of the title work. Non Texas residents are responsible for paying taxes in his/her state. Overseas customers will be charged a $30.00 fee for wire transfers. We must collect a vehicle inventory tax of .002215% and a small documentary fee of $75.00 on ALL sales. SHIPPING The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges.
