Licensed in DE until June 2013. Body is in pretty good condition for its age but is not a restored vehicle (though it is probably a good candidate). A little rust at a couple of seams. A film on the paint is peeling. Interior is in good unrestored condition though headliner sags slightly in one place. AC never worked very well but is there. Original carpet in good condition is under pieces of carpet laid on top which sounds ugly but is not. At worst, it protected the original carpet. Original upholstery is good. Engine temperature light blinks when started cold but goes off when engine is turned off when warm then on again. My mechanic, who does a lot of old VW work, said it should be treated as cosmetic but, it being a Vanagon, I make no representation except that it has done this for about 5 years. Lights, blinkers and so forth are fine. Has jack, etc. Though it passed inspection a couple of months ago I got the muffler shop to replace parts of the exhaust rather than buy a new aftermarket exhaust. So, it's good for now but parts of the exhaust are old. It idles at around 2,500 rpm. My mechanic recommends replacement of the steering shaft U-joint, idle control motor, and front suspension repair. I'm selling instead. I've had one or another Vanagon since 1984 and have loved them but I'm retiring from the game. I have the Vanagon-specific towers for a Yakima roof rack if buyer wants them as part of purchase. I can use the racks themselves elsewhere but will throw them in for a $50 side-deal if buyer wants. The vehicle is for sale as-is. A vehicle of this age makes best sense for someone who works on it him/herself or who is an enthusiast.
