Vehicle Detail

Cliché as it may be, I am selling my project that never happened. I used the car as a second driver for a good while, and were it not for its issues, I would much prefer driving it over my Viggen. These cars have a great feel and amazing handling, not to mention loads of character, and I am really going to miss it. I have owned the car since November of '07. It had just under 182,000 miles when I purchased it. I don't know anything about its previous history beyond what is listed in the vehicle history report. I am not sure if the car is a restoration candidate or if it is only good for parts. The primary issue is rust. See more photos at http://s1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff381/cargeek3323/1992%20900%20Turbo/, and please contact me if interested. Although I have done my best to thoroughly and accurately show and describe the car's condition and issues, I highly recommend seeing it before you bid. The second major issue is an oil leak. It was a slow leak for a while, but it got to the point where I was having to add more than a quart of oil per day. I also saw something in the oil when I pulled the dipstick; I couldn't tell if it was flecks of metal or small bubbles. Either way, the car needs to be examined by a qualified mechanic before it is started or driven again. It has been parked in my garage since May of 2011, and I just don't have the time or money to have it looked at. The buyer needs either a) to have it towed away or b) to be someone who works on his/her own cars and is knowledgeable enough to assess the engine situation and assume the risk of driving it as is. Other than the leak, the engine ran just fine the entire time I had it. The turbo provides plenty of boost, and it was a blast to drive and hear. There is a front seal leak; I don't know if this is what worsened or if there is another leak. The power steering rack leaks fluid, but I never had to add fluid outside of services. There is some sort of coolant leak, but I did not have to add coolant very often. The heat sometimes did not feel as hot as it should, so there may be an issue with the valves or the heater core. The A/C worked when I bought the car but acted like the refrigerant needed to be recharged. The refrigerant is now all gone, and I haven't had the leak diagnosed. The transmission worked fine for a car with almost 200,000 miles-- the clutch behaved normally, and shifting was fine. Of course it doesn't shift as smoothly as a newer car, but it goes into every gear every time, and it only rarely popped out of a gear right when I put the clutch in after a hard acceleration. It never popped out of gear without my touching the clutch. It does appear that the car was in a fender bender, driver's side front, before I bought it. The crack in the bumper cover is visible in the photos. It looks like the headlight and corner lights were replaced. I see no evidence of anything more major. The body is straight, and the hood and all doors line up fine. Work I've done (I have all records): Replaced right front lower ball joint and both front lower shock bushings: 11/07, 182,260 miles Replaced brake accumulator: 3/08, 182,447 Replaced battery: 10/08 Repaired rust in right front passenger floor board: 10/08, 184,499 Replaced all brake pads and rotors and left rear caliper: 11/08, 184,513 Replaced front and right rear hydraulic motor mounts: 11/08, 184,513 Replaced all four tires: 11/08, 184,513 Replaced voltage regulator: 11/09, 185,502 Replaced left front brake hose: 11/09, 185,502 Replaced rear shocks: 11/09, 185,502 Replaced front outer sway bar bushings: 3/11, 193,831 Repaired rust on rear axle: 3/11, 193,831Notable issues which don't appear in the photos:Sunroof leaks.Cruise control doesn't work, though the light comes on.SRS light has remained on ever since I removed and reinstalled the dashboard in 11/07 (to fix the climate system, which was just a detached vacuum hose). Codes were cleared, but light is still on.Heated seat doesn't work.Driver's power seatback consists of two motors, and one doesn't work.Central locking works occasionally. It seems to work better when it's warm. Liftgate lock motor doesn't work at all; it has to be locked and unlocked with key.I replaced the CD player (factory equipment) in 11/07-- it plays, but very quietly. It may just need a new cable; I tried to splice two together. The radio works fine and has plenty of volume. I have not tried the cassette player. A spare radio came with the CD player and is included.CD/Equalizer display doesn't light, but buttons do.Power antenna doesn't extend all the way, and tip is broken off. These are the major issues not visible in the photos. However, as this is an old unrestored car, it is nearly impossible to list every single detail. I am happy to answer any questions, and again, I highly recommend you see the car for yourself before bidding. Disclaimers:I hope it is obvious from the extent of my description and photography that I have made every effort to fully and honestly disclose everything I know about the vehicle. However, the vehicle is sold as is; no warranty is expressed and implied. A bid is a binding contract, and it is the bidder's responsibility to inspect the vehicle before bidding if he/she so desires. The vehicle must be picked up; I will not ship it. It must be towed away unless purchased by someone qualified to work on it and willing to assume the risk of driving it before repairing. Note that the inspection expires at the end of 3/12, and it will be illegal to drive the vehicle away if not sold and picked up by then. Full payment and pick-up must occur within seven days of auction end. Please contact me with any questions, and happy bidding! On Mar-22-12 at 17:18:26 PDT, seller added the following information:Note: Buyer is responsible for all costs associated with the transfer of ownership, including but not limited to $22.50 title transfer fee, notary fee(s), applicable sales tax, registration fee(s), etc.
