For auction I have a 81 Rabbit pick up 1.6L Diesel 146k miles with a 5 speed transmission, with A/C . Truck is gone through a extensive restoration with a new rebuild engine, rebuild fuel system and other components. The truck is painted recently with Dupont quality products with 2k Urethane primer and Urethane single stage top coat. Engine is fully rebuild with new over sized pistons, new bearing, gaskets, bolts, valves, guides, belts, water pump, thermostat and motor mounts. Also the injector pump is rebuild with a new high pressure pump with Viton seals, and rebuild injectors with matched fuel delivery & pressure and assembled with original made in France Bosch nozzles. The engine has now 250 miles since overhaul, received two oil changes for flushing purpose and runs beautiful. Clutch is new but transmission has original miles and works and shifts flawless. All the brakes have been replaced with new rotors and pads in the front, rebuild calipers, and fresh shoes and e-brake cables in the back with new wheel bearings. Vacuum pump for the brake booster is rebuild too. A/C compressor was inspected and received new clutch bearings. All A/C O-ring replaced for the newer R134 refrigerant. Alternator was working fine but received new brushes and re-packed the bearings. Axles are re-packed with grease and replaced the outer boots. All motor mount replaced Exhaust rubber hangers replaced. All electrical is repaired and works fine Rabbit GTI 14" wheels with almost new rubber. Add-on rear springs for more cargo capacity. After-market sun roof. Sliding rear window Lightly tinted windows Solid wing window for silent drive. (No more whistling air) These are some of the many things have been done to this truck. On Mar-20-12 at 22:17:44 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot an important detail: the engine is from a newer rabbit (1983-84). This engine block has the upgraded 12 mm head bolts and the threads are deeper in the block casting to minimize deck distortion. These bolts are stretch style with a superior clamping force to maximize head gasket longevity. Original 1981 blocks have 11mm head bolts, and demonstrated through these years to have many head gasket problems due to undersized bolts. Volkswagen in 1982 upgraded the blocks to a 12mm head bolt style. One more detail: the truck has also a cruise control installed. I'm not familiar with this cruise control from VW factory. Perhaps is an aftermarket CC installed from the dealer. This is the third truck I seen with this system but I haven' t found any manuals. It is not working at the moment, but all the components are there. I will continue to research the issue in these days, and perhaps I will have it working on delivery day.
