Vehicle Detail
1956 Chevrolet 210, 2 Door Wagon. Shows 26,076 miles and surely has been around at least one time?? Clear, Colorado title. I've had this car a number of years and was planning to put it on a trick frame with late running gear. Also had thoughts of making it into an El Camino type body as I have seen this done before to great success. Too many projects/not enough time and this one needs to leave. The car is pretty much complete . Maybe missing a couple minor items, like ashtray, but all the important, and hard to get, components are there. Body panels are surpriseingly straight, and I think, solid. No signs of rust through on any of the sides or cosmetic surfaces. Yet, the floors are gone in front of each seat as if the windows had been left down before I got it. Someone has tried to patch them, but I would start them over. The car needs floors from the backseat to the front seat. The rear cargo area and spare wheel well are nice and I would use them. Tires are just rollers. Chrome wheels have pits. Vehicle came to me with a small block Chevy and three speed with floor shifter. I was told it is a 350, but I cannot say for sure. Does have a QJ 4 barrel carb. Alternator looks to be fresh. Engine has long nose water pump which did not allow for a mechanical fan when the radiator was in the V-8 position. Someone, before me, used an electric fan instead. According to the VIN, the car came with a V-8. I drove the car when it first came to me. It ran and shifted well enough, but the engine smoked and ran rough. Brakes have gone down and I have not started it since. Engine holds coolant and I believe would be a good builder. Front split seat is from a later model of car and fits well. Rear seat is original to the wagon. I would replace all the glass. Tailgate glass is OK, but not mint. Some cracks and some scratches in side and front glass. Glove box cardboard is missing. Roof looks good although I see a couple minor dings when the light is just right. Left rocker has a ding and that door has been changed from a Belair sort of car. The door itself is straight and solid. Passenger door is solid. Stainless trim appears to all be there needing some straightening and polishing. Two pieces missing in the photo on Driver's side are in the back of the car along with two for the tailgate and two for the inside door panels. Trim pieces, each side of the front parking lights, are pitted as are the moldings over the parking lights, but straight. Hood bar is fairly nice with a 1/2" hairline crack at the leading edge. Hoodbird is pitted. Front and rear emblems are gone. Bumpers are solid and would be good cores for replaiting. Hood seems pretty nice. One of the hinges is sprung though. Original push button radio is there. Two heater control levers are broken. Vacuum wiper motor is loose in the back. Master Cylinder has been changed to the safer, dual reservoir type with proportioning valve. Firewall is uncut with the original battery tray. One original horn and one is later type. Grill is straight, but rusty. Original fuel fill mechanism is good (left taillight) and appears to have original gas cap. Tank still has fuel in it. Someone added a later type steering wheel, but the original with cap and horn ring are in the back. Headliner sags and should be replaced. Dome light lens is gone. Windhshield is not cracked, but is scratched from like the wiper arms. All four side window crank mechanisms are present. I did not get any keys with this car. Ignition switch was in the run position when I got it and can be used without the key as original. Tailgate, upper and lower are nice. "T" handle in gate is good and works as it should. Trim tag on firewall reads: Style: 56-1063F, Body #S531, Trim 609 STL, Paint: 717C-EZ1. I've described this car as honestly and as completely as I know how--as if what would I want to know if I were buying it. I've kept it a long time believing it is a great foundation to restore or make into a street rod. Delivery to the Denver area is possible. Thanks, Questions are welcome Glenn (970) 846-6801
