Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a nearly 100% original 1972 Ford F100 "sport custom". Read on for what I mean by "nearly original". This truck has been in my family since the day it was new. I have the original sales slip (my great-grandparents traded in a late 1960's Ford truck in on this one) , owners manual, all documentation, and most receipts for anything that's ever been done to this truck since the day it was driven off the lot. It has the original, still working AM Radio (It gets local AM radio quite well, though it can be a bit hard to hear ... it's just not as powerful as the radios of today), factory air conditioning (a rare option at the time that I've not seen on any other truck of this age), power steering, power drum brakes, lap belts, and the "Sport Custom" package which added a few nice extra features such as the bed rails in the pictures below. The dash is in excellent condition, and isn't cracked. It's also got a long bed, and the spare tire is mounted upright. I do not have a cover for it, and in fact, it's never had one. I even have the original keys from 1972! Engine is a 360 V8 that starts and runs well. Transmission is a 3-speed, works like a champ. You could start this thing up and drive it anywhere and not worry that you'd have a problem along the way. I drove it from Oklahoma to Colorado in 2006, and other than stopping for gas more times than I'd like to admit, I never had a problem. It did 70-75 the entire way and the truck would have done more had I let it. Some history about this vehicle: It started life as a farm truck with my great-grandfather. He worked for the railroad, and as such, he put a steel box in the bed (which I understand was common for railroad workers of the day) to hold his tools just in case he had to work on the train, or had to fix a fence somewhere on the 100's of acres that he farmed at the time. In the late 1970's, when he passed away, ownership passed to my grandfather, who used it as a daily driver for the next 20-25 years. When he passed away in 2006 ownership was passed to me. The truck has never been in an accident, and though it does have a few cosmetic issues here and there, it's an awesome ORIGINAL example of a truck of this vintage. It always turns heads when I drive it, people wave and give me a "thumbs up" when I'm on the road and when I stop, people come up to me and start talking to me about it. The engine was rebuilt at one point by my grandfather, but the key is REBUILT -- it still has the original engine and transmission. Other than that, it's just had tires, shocks, belts -- the usual maintenance items -- replaced over the years. When I got it, I spent about $3,000 on it doing things such as getting the A/C going, engine tune-ups, brakes adjusted (they are drums, after all), a few electrical items, and some other things here and there that were minor annoyances on my part. It currently gets driven once every few weeks, but I'd like to see ownership pass to someone who can really enjoy it and take care of it as well or better than we have over the years. I had planned to fully restore it to like-new condition, but some life events have gotten in the way of those plans and I'd like to see it pass to someone who can really appreciate this. If you have any questions, please respond to the ad. I have many more pictures I can share. By the way, according to nadaguides.com, the value of this vehicle, when fully restored and in pristine condition, is around $20K. Happy bidding! I can work with the winning buyer to arrange shipping, or better yet, just fly in here and drive it home! Winning bidder must put $500 deposit down within 3 days of auction end. Posted with the eBay Android appOn Feb-16-12 at 09:02:32 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE: There is an error in the listing above for the mileage (a buyer brought this to my attention). The mileage is likely over 200,000 -- not 20,000. The original engine / transmission is still in the vehicle, but it was rebuilt in the early 1990s. So, the odometer reading isn't a reflection of how many miles are on the rebuilt -- but original -- engine. I do have documentation of the rebuild. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
