Vehicle Detail

For sale by auction is this '63 Chevy Nova Wagon. 6 cylinder with S-10 5 speed, 65 Nova 5-lug axle and front hubs. Drum non-power brakes. Standard non-power steering. Mileage is unknown, clear Montana title. I personally stripped the car to bare metal on the exterior only and painted in February of 2005, so the paint and body is well aged-so rust has had some time to show up. As you can see in the pictures, the exterior paint and body work has held up well except for a small area on the driver side rear door, and the tailgate jams. The paint is not show quality, but looks very well at a short distance. Imperfections such as dust, small areas with pin-holes, and barely noticeable "onion rings" are visible to the critical eye. The car required a fair amount of panel replacement due to rust. The rocker panels, rear wheel wells, headlight buckets, floor pans, portions of the front fenders, portions of the cowl, lower rear quarter panels, and a portion of the tailgate skin have been replaced with steel. Some body panels that are not visible were rusty and left as is, or treated with rust preventative paint. One such panel is the driver side rear corner in the cargo area, where the interior panel meets the floor. I broke down and used some fiberglass here and it has held up surprisingly well. The inside and the underside of the doors and tailgate were lightly sandblasted and treated with POR-15 paint, seam sealer, and undercoating. The front fenders also received this treatment and were seam sealed to the front clip. The tailgate latch needs a bushing machined for it, the turning poriton is sloppy so it falls down on bumpy roads. The push pull lock still works though. The seam sealer I used on the roof drip rail is cracked from shrinkage in places. The hood does not fit the contour of the fender exactly on the driver side, but it's not too noticeable. Tires are in fairly good condition. Shortly after the bodywork was finished, I took the same 5- speed it has now out, and installed a T-56 6-speed and made several interstate trips with the car. The 6- speed required a custom transmission tunnel, and sub-frame connectors, so you will not be limited to other transmission options- if you wish to pursue them. I sold the 6-speed and reinstalled the 5-speed. This 5-speed is pretty noisy in first gear, not bad in second, third and fifth, not noisy at all in fourth. It works just fine, does not jump out of gear and shifts well. The engine runs very good, and did not burn or leak more than a quart of oil between 3000 mile changes when we stopped regularly driving it. The car is stored indoors during the winter and has only occasionally been driven for the past 2 years. The car drives well and in my opinion, handles corners as good or better than many modern cars. We now have 4 children and so we had to buy a van:( . The interior is very much "rat rod style"- kids can quickly ruin a nice interior so it never got that. It needs a new headliner. The CD player does not work well. No horn. Cheap alarm system. It had air conditioning at one time, and I put the center vent in the ash tray opening, with a stainless console that covered the original heater controls. In order for me to install the center vent in the ash tray opening, I had to file the corners out a bit. Needless to say, this would need some work to restore back to original, I will include the stainless a/c console without the a/c controls in the sale. All the mouldings, hood and tailgate bar, gate window crank, headlight doors, bumpers, and grille are original pieces with imperfections, dents, dings, and dullness. The wheels are those cheap chrome wheels that look awesome when new, but require constant cleaning to prevent rust. Unfortunately they have the rust that went too deep to polish out in the valve stem "groove". If you want a good deal on a classic Nova wagon that will turn some heads and is fun to drive, this is your chance. -I will put a wal-mart battery in it for the new owner, the one in the picture is not included. The car is being offered and sold in as-is, where is condition. No warranty is expressed or implied, other than an accurate description. A $1000.00 paypal deposit is required after the sale. The remaining sale price is payable with a cashier's check. I will send the notorized and signed title via certified mail to the buyer after full payment clears, or it can go with the car if the buyer or shipper prefers. I am able to deliver the car to a car shipper in Kalispell MT, 59901- but that is all I will do. Buyer must arrange and pay for all shipping costs. The buyer will have an additional 15 days after sale ends to arrange shipment. If additional time is needed to arrange shipping, storage fees of $10/day will apply for outdoor storage, $20/day for indoor storage. The car can either be parked indoors or outdoors on my premises while shipping arrangements are made, but there will be no insurance coverage provided by the seller, nor will the seller be responsible for any damages to the car during this time. Your purchase of the car indicates your full agreement to these terms. I have done the best I can to describe the car accurately and have no intention to hide anything, so please ask for any further information or clarification. See more pics with notes at http://photobucket.com/406-63novawagon -- ask me to show any specific part of the car you want to see that is not pictured. On Mar-12-12 at 18:31:40 PDT, seller added the following information: It was pointed out to me that the storage during the 15 days after the sale was a bit unclear. I will be glad to store it indoors for the 15 days after the sale, no charge while the buyer arranges shipment- but there will be no insurance coverage on the car during this time. I just wanted to leave the inside or outside option to the buyer. Oustide is fine, but the stupid birds love to bomb it! If you need it stored indoors longer it will cost $20/day. Thanks, and be sure to check out the pictures on photobucket! Also just for your information we have an Amtrak depot in nearby Whitefish and an international airport here in Kalispell if you want to drive it home. On Mar-16-12 at 17:48:39 PDT, seller added the following information: This car will sell! To clarify the terms, $1000.00 Pay pal deposit required within 24 hours of the end of the listing. Full payment must clear before the car ships. I will also accept a pay pal payment for the balance remaining. Other storage arrangements are available at the buyer's option.
