A local hardware store manager had this family truck restored in the 80's and drove it until 1993 when he bought a new truck and didn't want to pay for insurance for 2 vehicles. Not a show truck but a very nice daily driver. He continued to drive the truck around the farm on occasion and kept it running until the last few years. It did stay in his barn and out of the weather and sun so it is well preserved after a 20 year old restoration. We cleaned the gas tank, carburator and tuned up the motor and away she went. She wouldn't stop though and we coasted a good ways down the road. I have ordered a master cyclinder for the brakes and will have it installed before the end of the sale. Eferything else works on the truck and the engine is a 235 transplanted from a 57 Chevy. Plenty of power with no hesitation. the steering is tight ad the tires are good. Old School wheels, hubcaps and beauty rings are just the right touch for this one!!! the is some damage to the paint where gas over ran the neck and ran down the body below the filler spout. No rust anywhere on the body and none in the floors. It was a really straight truck when they started the restoration. the bed has been lined with metal, a toolbox and headache rack have been installed. On Mar-11-12 at 19:23:25 PDT, seller added the following information: The rear end of this truck has been replaced with a newer 5 lug axle and an open drive shaft. The front suspension is original 6 lug. It can be converted to 5 lug by replacing the hubs with 53 or 54 chevy passenger car 5 lug hubs that will fit the existing spindles. It's the poor man's way to do it, but it will work great and allow you to use any 5 on 4 3/4 inch wheels. All of the glass is cracked except the passenger door glass. The truck is water tight and the window regulators work properly but the glass is cracked. On Mar-16-12 at 17:51:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Brakes are fixed!!!!! NOW, clutch is slipping. I think that the pressure plate has sat so long it is stuck open. The truck took off fine, but when I stopped to turn around, it wouldn't engage. Fixing that before the auction ends is way above my head, so high bidder will have complete option to buy truck as is but will know that is not operable. If you bid and didn't get a chance to see this revision, you can back out and I will refer you to read this so you will know that I was straight forward about it. I have so many people watching the truck I don't want to cancel the auction and not give them the chance. An alternative is for me to fix the clutch and sell to the high bidder, but that will delay shipment. Also, the current high bidder asked me to look to see if the cab corners have patch panels in them and it appears that patch panels were used because the color of the sheet metal from inside the cab is brighter on the corners than the surrounding metal.
