1971 BMW 2800CS “The BMW New Six is a line of six-cylinder luxury cars produced by the German automaker BMW from 1968 to 1977. The series was introduced as a response to the Mercedes-Benz-dominated large luxury car class and was very important in establishing BMW's reputation as a maker of sporting, luxury sedans. A two-door coupé version was produced alongside.. The CS models were coupés based on the standard sedans, and looked identical from the front. But they were also related to the earlier 2000CS, as is evident at the rear. The first model was the well-equipped 2800CS of 1968.” * This is an original car that needs restoration. Correct Polaris Silver paint shows it’s age but still covers car adequately. The rocker panels need to be replaced on both sides. The floors have been patched relatively well. The trunk is scaled but still in good condition. The front propeller rondell is missing. The interior also shows some wear. The basic body and panel fit is quite good. Mechanically, the care is reasonably sound. The motor runs strong though there is some blue smoke under aggressive load. The clutch and brakes work well. Recent electrical work has been completed and accessories seem sound. The windshield is cracked. Lights work. Windows need some work. The motor’s cycle but regulators are not functioning properly. Speedometer inoperable, needs to be replaced. Fully restored these cars bring $50,000 to $60,000. This car is an excellent project for an ambitious hobbyist who wants to drive while restoring or for a race car platform. It needs lots of work but is a sound start.
