Up for sale is an original owner 1998 Jaguar Vanden Plas. I am selling the car for my 84 year-old next door neighbor and as such, can only speak to the cars maintenance and condition since we have know each other for the past 6 years. This is what I can tell you. Candidly, if you are looking for a pristine, flawless Vanden Plas, this is not it only by virtue of it's cosmetics. If however, you are looking for a low mileage, original owner car that is mechanically solid and runs the way it should, then this car is worth looking at. The gentleman who owns this car simply had too many health related issues over the past several years and as such, frankly didn't care about cosmetic issues such as a tree limb denting the roof and back left trunk lid as shown in the photos. The car spent its life in between his homes in Southampton, NY and Palm Beach, FL. The car has 48843 miles on it and mechanically on a scale of 1-10 is about an 8.5 and cosmetically it's about a 4.0. In the past two weeks, he has spent about $2100 in miscellaneous related repairs. New fuel pump, new fuel pump sending unit, fuel filter, new plugs, injection cleaning, oil service, etc. (we have the documentation to support the repairs)Everything on the car works as is should with the exception of the sunroof ( it does not open due to the shallow dent on the roof from a tree limb falling on it).All other mechanical items on the car are in order. The Pirelli tires have about 85% of their tread life left on them as do the brakes. New OEM Leather arm rest cover has been ordered and can easily be installed in less than an hour. In closing I would say this. I would get in the car and comfortably drive it anywhere in the country and not even think twice about it. It drives beautifully as a Jaguar should and simply needs some cosmetic love to make it an inexpensive, low mileage Vanden Plas that you can enjoy. Feel free to call me with questions.
