Vehicle Detail

For Sale: A well-kept and well-preserved 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief Wide-Track Full Size Jeep (FSJ) with original Wedgewood Blue (color code 9E) paint and decals with AMC360 V8 located in Fredericksburg, VA. This vehicle has been owned and driven exclusively in Colorado prior to August 2011. Since then, it has been garage-kept in VA and driven approximately 40-miles in the past 6-months. The Cherokee Chief is largely rust-free with the exception of the rusty rear fender flares (as pictured) and minor surface rust here and there as visible in the detailed pictures. The vehicle currently has 135,720 miles. This Cherokee Chief had a complete engine rebuild by Owen Faricy Jeep Dealership in Colorado Springs, CO in September 1994 and transmission rebuild a year later in August 1995 (when the vehicle had 119,910 miles). During the mid-90s, the Jeep received several new weatherstripping and gasket seals as well as other parts from Faricy Jeep. These receipts will go to the new owner. Previous owner tinted windows and had upholstery recovered. The vehicle is mostly stock. I've added a new Optima Red-Top Battery, a K&N Air Filter, and an OEM new rear tailgate carpet in similar blue (as pictured). The Jeep was long owned by an elderly gentleman in Colorado through 2004 (although I'm not sure if he was the original owner or not) and then by a couple in their 60s from 2004 through last Summer. The vehicle runs and drives very well for its age with lots of power. The AMC 360 2bbl V-8 was the most powerful engine option available in 1979 and this Toledo-built FSJ has it. The TH400 Quadratrac transmission works smoothly for its age. The four bolts deep within the steering column need to be tightened, air conditioning needs to be recharged to work, rear interior cargo light needs to be fixed, the shifting indicator needle is missing, and rear tailgate window switch for external key operation needs to be replaced as well as other minor fixes consistent with a well-preserved 33-y/o vehicle. The vehicle has sporadic minor dents on the hood and a large impact dent on the passenger lower rear as pictured. Also, the aftermarket radio does not work. It is a great vehicle for the price I am listing it for here on eBay. The final picture featured here shows a very similar Wedgewood Blue '79 Cherokee Chief as it appeared on the March 1979 of a national 4WD magazine (I will include this magazine cover in the receipts binder for the new owner). I think this classic Jeep Cherokee Chief would make a great summer project as it is mostly original and has the potential to be truly great. Terms: A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due immediately with the Buy-it-Now feature or within 24-hours of winning the traditional auction format. The payment of the remaining balance after deposit is due by certified check within seven days of the auction's end. Buyer is responsible for coordinating vehicle pick-up or shipping. If vehicle is shipped via Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS), I can assist the buyer by driving the vehicle to the Manassas, VA central terminal point (to save buyer money on shipping cost), if desired. The title & receipts binder will be sent to the buyer by tracked FedEx 2-day service on the first day following cleared payment. As an added incentive for using the Buy-it-Now feature, I'm including an NOS AMCjeep emblem and NOS Quadratrac emblem (needed on this Cherokee Chief for the rear tailgate) as well as a 1979 Jeep Technical Service Manual to a buyer using the Buy-it-Now feature. I've attempted to describe this classic 33y/o vehicle to the best of my ability with both words and pictures...I'm not a mechanic, but believe this to be a very solid vehicle. The vehicle is sold "as is, where is" with no warranty expressed or implied. Note my feedback and bid with confidence...Thanks for looking at this auction!
